I'm looking for a series of hardback science fiction anthologies I dimly remember from childhood (sometime in the mid 80s). I think it had a one word title with a number, and the series went up to at least number five. I remember two stories in particular... [more inside]

I am trying to organize a short camping trip with a friend. We would like to go somewhere in Southeastern Missouri, Southern Illinois or Southwestern Kentucky where there is little to no light pollution. Our plan is to spend some time photographing the stars, particularly the band of the Milky Way that's visible here on Earth when skies are clear. [more inside]

Y'know how, in cartoons, when one is knocked out, particularly in a boxing match, there'll be stars floating around your head as you lay there? My grandfather said this was based on a real medical condition where boxers would see 'stars' of light in their field of vision after getting knocked out, and I need to know more about this. Details inside. [more inside]

How do stars work in Google? David Beaver describes a series of searches using multiple asterisks in this Language Log post; specifically, he says: "there is * * * * a house in New Orleans" gets, at time of writing, precisely the same number of hits, 3560, as "there is a house in New Orleans" But when I click on the former, I only get two hits. What's going on here? [more inside]

HollywoodFilter: Who are the Most Overrated Stars in ShowBiz?
Full Disclosure: This is research for a paid writing assignment on the subject. (And I'll be sad but accepting if Matt chooses to delete) I usually rely on my own opinion and depth of knowledge, and have been Google-fishing this like crazy, but this topic is so general that I want as many outside suggestions as I can collect.
NOTE: I am not looking for the latest teen queen lip-syncher or reality show discovery, I'm looking for candidates with a longer, more successful showbiz career than their obvious level of talent deserves. Actors, singers, comics, 'personalities', maybe even writer/creators. William Shatner (IMHO) is my poster boy. (And no dead people, please)
