Apparently Daewoo makes TVs. Where can I find parts for one?

Where can I get a display stand for a Daewoo DP-42SM plasma monitor? Asking for someone else:

I'm looking for either a service center or a place where I can order a display stand (not wall-mount) for a Daewoo SP-42SM plasma monitor. Can anyone offer any advice? Their service centers don't seem to be that well represented online in the US.

Thanks in advance.

Help me surf while I bike.

I own this exercise bike. I would like to set up some kind of laptop stand so that I can watch DVDs and surf the web while riding. I've thought about something like this mini-desk, but there's no room under the bike for the desk's support bar (note the horizontal bar on the bottom). I need some sort of desk that has legs facing away from the bike (legs that don't need to go under the bike) but with a table that juts over the bike.

I've tried putting my laptop on a stool next to the bike, but I wind up hurting my neck, turning to watch the screen.

Challenges:

(1) I'm not very handy, so I'd rather not try a solution that involves building something from scratch -- or seriously modding the bike.

(2) I rent an apartment and can't screw stuff into the wall.

(3) My place isn't all that big, so I'd like to have something I can easily store when I'm not exercising.

Important stats:

When I'm biking, my knees jut up about 38", so I need a table that is higher than that.

There's about 15" between my chest and the handlebars.

Wall mounted TV without a wall?

Wall mounted TV without a wall: I need a stand that I can bolt my 37'' LCD TV onto, but don't want to give up my current credenza. I'm looking for something narrow and "L" shaped that will get the TV into the air while simultaneously fitting into the space between my credenza and the floor. A previous question got at some of the same issues, but it wasn't quite resolved. I know I've seen something similar to what I'm looking for, but after scouring Google and Apartment therapy, I've come up short.

Fix for Braun Shaver/Razor Syncro Clean & Charge System?

Fix for Braun Shaver/Razor Syncro Clean & Charge System? The base on my system has been broken for years. Here is a replacement: http://www.theessentials.com/jump.jsp?itemID=186&itemType=PRODUCT&iProductID=186

The upper "arm" that snaps into the bottom of the razor when it is placed in the charge/cleaning station stopped working. It used to snap into place and stay there unless you hit the blue release button on it. Now (and as I said, for years) it never snaps/clicks into place. For about a year, thanks to the position of some shelves in my bathroom at my old house, I could wedge the unit between shelves after inserting the shaver. This kept the top part locked into place & allowed the cleaning and charging cycles to run.

However, in my past two (including my present) living situations, there is no place to wedge it. I spent time on Google seeking answers previously without any luck.

I am hoping someone either A) managed to open it and fix it or B) has a clever way to keep the top locked into place to allow normal operation. Yes, I could spend $50 (plus shipping) to get a new base station, but I worry if they did not update the design, that it may fail (I noticed newer models did not have anything that snapped into the back of the razor, making me believe they recognized the design flaw but chose to ignore it on the old parts).

I love this shaver, but the quality of shave (even with recently replaced foils etc) is not as good as when it is frequently cleaned with the base station. I actually have 3 cleaning cartridges waiting to be used, so hoping someone can help.

Weight Lifter Musical Instrument Stand

Searching for Weight Lifter Music Instrument Stand There's a stand for heavy musical instruments (e.g., tuba) called the Weight Lifter.
Best combination of strength and portability in a music stand

MusicianFilter: I need a sturdy, but portable music stand to take to my band concerts this summer. I play clarinet in a concert band that has an extensive summer schedule, as well as a few concerts in the winter, for which I will need to bring a music stand. Many concerts are outdoors, so it has to be sturdy enough to be stable on grass and heavy enough not to blow over in the wind. Most of our venues also require a long walk from the parking area to the performance area, so I need something I can easily carry along with my clarinet case and large tote bag of music. I've had experience with the stands listed below, but I'm really looking for the ideal combination of strength and portability. Thanks for your recommendations!

The folding metal type is not sturdy enough to support my big folder and stand up to the wind in outdoor performances.

I'm currently using a big, heavy, "portable" stand, which is great once it's set up, but heavy and unwieldy to actually carry to the venue.

I briefly used a Peterson music stand, which was used and recommended by some other members of my band, but they apparently don't make them like they used to, and the plastic knobs are prone to cracking or getting stuck.

Help me Portrait my Landscape monitors?

I want to make my Landscape monitors into Portrait monitors. Help me find a stand, and maybe software? So, hardware: 17" Planar LCD (PL1700) x2
The stands are built-in and only do landscape.
But there are 4 screws in the back for use with a mount (100mmx100mm).

Software, I dunno. Do I need UltraMon or something to make them go Portrait?

I work with document layouts enough that it makes more sense for me to have these be Portrait instead of Landscape. (Being able to switch back and forth would be a plus, tho.) And I just got these, so I don't think they'll spring for two more new monitors that are made to swivel btw. Portrait/Landscape.

I keep them far enough apart (long story) that a dual-monitor arm might not fit right or give me the angles I need. And I don't think my office cube will be able to accomodate two adjustable mounted arms, like an architect's lamp, bolted to the desk. So I'm looking for two independent STANDS to mount them to, not arms.

Looks like I want VESA 100x100 mounts, but all I'm seeing when I search for that are arms, single or dual. I want a base/stand, not an arm. Anyone?

Where Can I Find a Good Laptop Stand With A Small Footprint?

I'm looking for a laptop "holster" (not a stand, per se) for my Macbook that works exactly like this one, but doesn't cost $300. Does such a product exist? I'm not so concerned about the materials, or the form factor. I just like the idea of a laptop stand that conserves desk space like that.

I'm toying with the idea of just wandering around Home Depot and assembling something myself. But I'd prefer to buy something if it exists for $60 or less.

Hey PSP, stand up!

I'm looking for the plastic stand that came with the PSP Giga Pack (link within), and hoping that some nice member of the hive mind knows how to help me get one. I'm trying to get my hands on the plastic stand that came with the PSP Giga Pack in America back in 2005, as seen in these pictures. While I haven't used my PSP for games as much as I was hoping I would when I bought it, I've found it to be much more useful for watching videos. I've wanted to get some sort of stand for it for a while now, and after looking at the options and finding most of them to be expensive or not what I really want, I've decided I'd really like something simple...such as the one that came with the Giga Pack, which came out a few months after I got my PSP.

However, trying to find said plastic stand has proved to be impossible. Sony doesn't sell it separately (the closest thing I've found comes from the Playstation Signature line, and I'll be damned if I'm paying $20 to import something like that), and I haven't found any other way of acquiring one. To that end, I'm wondering if there's a MeFi member who has one they'd be willing to part with; I'd certainly be willing to pay a few dollars for it.

If you have a stand you'd send my way, please let me know; it would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for a new TV stand.

I'm looking for a new TV stand. I have some guidelines as to what I'm looking for, and I'm having a hard time finding something that meets them. The TV stand I have in my bedroom now is too low for me, and I'd like to replace it with something taller. I got my current TV stand at Target about four years ago, and while it's served me well since then, it's time to retire it.

This is what I'm looking for:

28 inches wide, at the most. My current stand just fits into the space it's in now (my room is kind of small), and even another half inch would be too wide.

Around 30 inches high. My current stand is 17 and a half inches high. 30 is about what I'm shooting for; that would put my TV at around eye level for most of the time I'm in here.

15 inches deep. Right now, I'm rocking an old 20" TV/VCR combo. At some point in the not too distant future, I'm planning to replace this with a ~23 inch LCD, but that's a ways off yet.

Black. All of my furniture is black and silver, and I'd like to continue that trend. Furthermore, most of it is IKEA furniture--I worked there for awhile, and it suits my needs just fine. And I do so love my aesthetics.

A price of $80-100. I'm a poor college student, and this is about the ceiling of what I can spend.

I've taken a look at the websites of Target, Best Buy, and IKEA, but I can't find anything that suits my needs. Do any of you have/know of a TV stand that fits what I've outlined?

Looking for stand made out of paper and obscure envelope.

Papercraft! Looking for two obscure things made from paper. For a little self-promotion thing that I am throwing together. The first thing is something like a 'Plate Easel'. Check out the hinged examples here and here

Basically I need something that can be folded flat, with the footprint of about the size of a postcard, then assembled and hold up something the size of a postcard :)

The second thing is a small negative envelope. Sort of like the one shown here, but much smaller. Like business card size. To hold, wait for it, a business card.

I could easily make a dieline for both of these things and have them printed, but I would like to avoid that cost if possible, so if anyone knows anyplace in the world where I could possibly procure one of these items, I will shower you with rubies. Bonus rubies for outlets in Australia.

I am looking for a using a laptop in bed solution for health reasons. Mainly I want to be able to use my laptop while laying flat on my back in bed. Here are 2 options I found: Lapdawg and Easy Desk Aluminum. As you can see these designs allow more than just the laying in bed position, which is good. The price is fine, my main concern is that there are a deceptively large amount of factors that go into getting something like this to work, and to work for everyone. I've been reading reviews and they are mixed. Most concerning of which are the odd claim of questionable craftsmanship and less than good return policies. So the next question is, could I make one of these? Mainly the issue would be in getting the joints to work and knowing how to make it so it wouldn't break.
Basically I am trawling for any experience anyone has with anything like this. Thanks!

Help me find the right CPU stand. I need a CPU stand to get my computer tower up off the floor. I want one on wheels, and shelf space above or below for external hard drives. I need it to fit under my desk, preferrably under $100.
Thanks.

How to use a bike to power appliances

I'd like to use my bike to power simple household items, such as our hand-cranked coffee grinder or the electric chargers for my cell phone and laptop. I'm thinking of this as a home-build project which I could use with my regular road bike. Where would be a good place to find mix & match machine parts, such as gears, chains, or axles? Does such a catalog exist, or would it be necessary to go to a real machine shop and get parts made? As a kid, I was handy with Lego Technic, and I'm looking for something at about that level of difficulty (adjusted +16 years for age, of course). 80-20 and a simple training stand would do part of the job, but I'd still need gears and axles.

Cell phone home base with ringer?

Cell phone charging stand with extra loud ringer - does it exist? I ditched my land line for a cell phone (Nokia 6225), which works fine for me, except occasionally when I am at home. If I have the ringer on loud enough to hear around the house, it's too loud for carrying in my pocket. I know I can set up separate profiles for home and outside, but then I have to remember to change it every time I enter or leave, and the loudest setting still isn't loud enough. I think it would be much easier if I had a base station near the front door. I've had friends express an interest in exactly the same kind of thing, so I figure there must be a demand. Why can't I find this product?

(Nokia makes these things but I don't know what they do with the ring, and I don't really need the speaker phone or music features.)
