I gave my cell phone to a badly burned fire victim and she took it with her to the hospital in the ambulance. It was covered in blood. I dont want it back. I have no phone insurance. I'm with Sprint. Any provision for a replacement if the phone is lost in in a life saving circumstance? WARNING: graphic details inside. [more inside]

It's come the time to buy a new cellphone. I have a RAZR V2 and it's falling apart. My Verizon contract is up in November. Should I re-up with Verizon and stay on my family plan or should I break off and/or go to another carrier? And what phone should I look into? All I know is that I do not want a huge fold out QWERTY keyboard like a 16-year-old girl with a Sidekick and probably do not want a Motorola. [more inside]

My LG PM-225 phone now loops the Sprint logo (the one you usually see when turning the phone on) after a Bitpim sync apparently went wrong. Is there anyway to reset the phone / reinstall the software (is that what went wrong?) without informing Sprint or buying a new phone? Thanks much.

VoIP over EVDO. If you've tried it (especially on Sprint's Rev A EVDO), how do you like it? I'd be using Skype, using it rarely, and only using it during calls -- not leaving it idling and using bandwidth. (With my current Sprint phone-as-modem setup on 1xRTT, I average 400-600ms pings -- i.e., too much latency for VoIP even if I had enough bandwidth. But on Sprint's now active EVDO Rev A, they claim latency of 100-150ms and upstream averaging 300-400k.) Yes, I know EVDO is not in the TOS. And I connect primarily from NYC in strong-signal areas.

I'm a big fan of the Ericsson interface, though my current phone (T637) is on its last legs. Sony has come out with a ton of great phones recently, all vast improvements on what I have, and almost none of which I afford. A few years ago, major wireless carriers could be counted on to heavily discount the newest latest freshest phones, especially Ericssons, and now only ONE carrier (Cingular) sells ANY of them, and they only have the two bottom-of-the-line models. Anyone have any advice or inside information before I bite the bullet and get the cheapo model? [more inside]

Business today is beautiful! Sprint is in here, Sprint is in there, Sprint is everywhere! This commercial aired every week this summer during Meet The Press and I miss it. I find myself getting disappointed and depressed during every Meet The Press commercial break now because I may never hear that wonderful song again. I’ve been unable to find it posted online anywhere, only message board & blog posts celebrating it (or sometimes wrongly suggesting it’s terrible.) I’d love to find a video of the commercial or an MP3 of the song. [more inside]

My cell phone broke the other day, and I've been looking at getting a new one off Ebay, since it seems like you can get really cheap phones compared to buying them from Sprint directly. Is there anything I should know, or any potential hurdles that'd I have to jump over if I did this? Has anyone bought a phone off ebay and transferred it on to their preexisting business account? Cellphones Ergonomics: I used to have Sprint. Part of the reason I dropped coverage was because I didn't like my phone, a Sanyo 4900. It had great battery life, good technical features, and terrible ergonomics: it never felt right against my ear/head, and it tended to heat up after a few minutes use, making it an uncomfortable and sweaty poor fit to my ear/head (as well as conjuring visions of RF zapped brains, no matter how my rational side told me it wasn't happening). Anyway, I'm considering going back to Sprint, and am looking for recommendations about phones that feel good. [more inside]

I got a new cell phone, and my old one was deactivated and handed back to me. Is there any way to make an orphaned, numberless Nokia useful again (for when Sprint's coverage fades, like it has all this weekend) without signing a contract for a monthly fee? TracFone makes you buy a new phone, which is the opposite of what I'm looking for. Prepaid long distance cards seem to be only for land lines. Am I missing the magic google search term?
