I am a New England Patriots fan who works with a Steelers fan. In anticipation of the game this weekend, I would like very much to wear some sort of Patriots shirt tomorrow. What brick-and-mortar store would I go to in order to find a Patriots shirt/hoodie/whatever? Difficulty level: NW Chicago suburbs. [more inside]
I'm taking a football-loving six-year-old boy to the England v. Spain friendly at Wembley this week. This will be the first pro football (or "soccer," for Americans) match either of us have ever attended, and I know next to nothing about the sport. What advice would you give me for having a fun and safe night out? [more inside]
After watching Ricardo Lockette get knocked terrifyingly unconscious in tonight's Seahawks/Cowboys game, and wondering for the eight minutes he was down if he was even alive*, I'm curious to know what the rules governing various high-level sports leagues are about continuing play in the event of the death of an athlete on the field. I'm interested in finding a site / YouTube channel / similar portal that shows only the "action" portion of sporting events. For example, a Youtube channel that would edit out all of the footage from NFL games, showing only the time when the clock was running. MLB has clips of key pitches/hits on their site (as does the NFL), but not the whole game from what I can find. Can anyone point me in the right direction of a full game trimmd down to only the "action"?
This Sunday, the Cowboys are playing the Giants at 4:25pm. My flight lands at JFK at 3:30pm (fingers crossed). Are there any good/existing sports bars that are pro-Cowboys, if not neutral (e.g., pro-Jets/Steelers/Patriots), and that are within 30-45 minutes driving distance of the airport? If not (or if the flight is delayed), are there any good sports bars in JFK?
I will be driving between approximately Chico, CA and Los Angeles, CA during the afternoon of Saturday, September 6th and I would like to listen to the Oregon Ducks football game against the Michigan State Spartans on either the radio or on my iPhone. [more inside]

I'm a dork who's never been interested in any sports at all. I've never played or watched any sport. I don't see why it's so interesting. But sports, especially football, is one of the most-watched type of show on television. The Superbowl is like a national holiday. I feel like I'm missing out on something big. How do I develop an interest in football (or other sports) after a lifetime of disinterest? What makes football exciting that should be obvious?
Are there any books/websites that offer commentary on (American) football strategy and tactics in a concise way? [more inside]
I'm not a big NFL fan but have joined a pool "cause I have to". I figure if I can get basic stats: offense/defense/QB rankings, injuries...I won't embarrass myself too much. Any help would be appreciated.
I remember once reading a number of stories about old trick plays (in particular, some old American football plays) that were deemed to dirty and the rules were changed to outlaw them. But now my Google-fu is failing me, and I can't seem to turn up anything about them online. In particular, I remember a story about a team bringing in a very small player, handing them the ball, and having another player or to heave them over the tops of the heads of the opposing team and into the endzone. I also remember a story about a team sewing the image of a football onto the bellies of all of their jerseys to make it harder to tell who had the ball. Anyone who can help me track down sources for these stories (and/or similar tales from sports) will have my unending gratitude. [more inside]
My sister would like to send my nephew to a football camp that will specifically aid him with developing his game with his new prosthetic. You can read more about my nephew here: Former question about Koni. I've found some amputee camps, but they either focus on soccer, or various outdoor activities, not specifically football. Koni's fundraisers were very successful, and he will have the funds for travel, etc. if needed, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Sincere thanks, Jayed

My son, a soccer player and avid Manchester City and Manchester United fan, is turning 17 on the date of the Man City vs Man United match (April 28th, 2012). Since we were considering a trip to Europe next year, the stars all seemed to be in alignment for us to schedule our visit around his birthday. I wrote to inquire about tickets for the match. In return, I received a lovely reply...but I don't understand it! Please hope me. [more inside]

Football (American) strategy question: You're down 15 and score a TD with about enough time left to kick-off, try to force the other team to punt, then get the ball back with a chance to tie. Why do all teams opt for the extra point rather than the 2-point conversion? [more inside]

Did they really get the bright idea to host a college football game in Soviet Russia, and then have to cancel it because they couldn't sell enough vacation packages? The Wikipedia entry about the Glasnost Bowl has a bunch of outdated angelfire pages as its sources. The 1989 New York Times article that mentions it doesn't treat it as very interesting. I think it would make a publishable journal article if it's real and am looking for more info.
