The Best Possible Prayer(s) You Can Think Of

Spiritual-filter: What general prayers would you recommend to use on a regular basis? So I have been, during the beginning of my break from college study, rediscovering my spiritual life and have been trying to set up a daily routine (like a morning and night prayer, along with prayer before meals). Specifically, having been raised Catholic, I have been rediscovering their teachings and practices (bought the 2/e Catechism yesterday for reference).

I have been deeply spiritually-hurt from and have been recovering from the ~recent scandals of the church (nationally and locally known), reasoning for recovery and rediscovery of faith and belief being I shouldn't let the sins of others effect my spiritual life and hopes of heaven after this life. This is just to provide a light background.

Thus my question for the ~religious, very religious, and every mefite in between: what prayers do you find on a regular basis to be providing the best spiritual lift/high? what prayers do you find to be most influential, most game changing, etc.?

Also, feel free to add anything else that might better direct one's soul (thoughts of the saints, great thinkers in theology, etc.)

Google searching failed me, knowing such a search brings about 100s of results and it is incredibly difficult to pick out the good ones. I figured I would ask the hive mind considering I would very likely get some pretty smart answers to this. Thanks!

PS: Leave the popular Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be, along with the Acts of [] out of this. Same with psalms. They already rank quite high I would imagine. I appreciate it.

Xmas spirit all though the year

What are some actual examples of this Christmas-time cliche? "If only we could keep the spirit of this day all year round..."

I know this hackneyed sentiment has been expressed in tons of Christmas-themed narratives. But when I try to think of specific examples, I come up blank.

What are some books, movies, songs, etc. where someone expresses the wish that the "spirit of Christmas" isn't just a once-a-year event?

Translate "spirit" into Scottish Gaeilc

Can you help me figure out the best Scottish Gaelic word for translating the English word "spirit" for a tattoo project? I recently spent 3 weeks in Scotland at the Findhorn Institute experiencing
spirituality in community, and as part of my travels this summer want to
mark the time with a tattoo. I have "Manifest" (in english) and "Peace"
('Fridur' in Icelandic where I spent the other significant portion of my
travels this summer) and want to add "spirit" in Scottish Gaelic. I have
looked up the word on a few online translation dictionaries and have gotten
numerous words with numerous definitions which sometimes are quite close.
Can anyone help me determine the exact word I want for this project?

I've come up with these possibilities, but would love to hear if there are
others that come forth from this query:
misneach
meanmna
aigneadh

Or even perhaps if there is a word that would relate more so to the English
"spirituality"? I did find "spioradail" which is an adjective though I
think, meaning 'spiritual'. I think I would like a noun for this, but am
open to all possibilities.

Thank you.

Where do distilled spirits get their flavors from?

Does all freshly-distilled spirit, whether made from barley, corn, rye, grapes, or potatoes taste identical? If not, what makes the difference in taste? I know that whiskey gets a lot of its final taste from the sherry barrels in which it is aged. Are similar tricks used for other spirits?

Bah! Humbug!!

ScroogeFilter: I am having a seriously hard time getting in the Christmas Spirit. Jolly I don't want to hate Christmas but I think I do. But I don't want to! After a pretty rough year where I was anticipating moving closer to family, I find myself and my little family (husband, age 5 girl, age 3 boy and age 5 months boy) spending the holidays in a new (to us) house with absolutely no extended family.

Oh, and we're in Arizona which causes a lot of problems, including being 2500 miles from our families. I mention Arizona because going outside to sledride and make snow angels is not going to work to help me get in the Spirit.

So, I turn to you all. How can I get in the Christmas Spirit? Do you have certain traditions that you could share as this is our first Christmas together alone and we've not yet implemented any traditions?
