Periodically (maybe a couple or few times a year), I wake up with something on my face that seems like a bug bite. Nothing dramatic; it itches a bit, raises a small welt and then heals. [more inside]

I know about spider veins (those tiny, flat blue/red/purple lines) and varicose veins (raised, lumpy veins). I know that these can be treated with laser or sclerotherapy. But what do you call faint blue bruising that seems to follow the path of blood vessels but is neither sharply defined nor raised? And how can you treat it? [more inside]

Just tonight, I saw this spider in front of my neighbors apartment. it didn't move, and I didn't want to make it move to be honest. Is that thing real? or am I terrified by a toy. I live in Connecticut if it helps to identify.

What kind of spider is here, hanging out above my bed? I would guesstimate that from leg to leg the guy you see there is probably 1.5"-2". Is it the somewhat hard to identify brown recluse (who isn't even supposed to be native to Chicago)? Will I die? How best can I kill it from a distance?

Is it ok to release a non-native spider into the ecosystem? Specifically, a red backed jumping spider (Phidippus johnsoni), which is native to the U.S. west coast into suburban Massachusetts. The spider made its journey as a stowaway in a bag of grapes. I should also mention that it is a female, so conceivably could be carrying fertilized eggs.

My wife is afraid of spiders. We just moved to Portland, Oregon, where the spider population seems to be higher than that even of slackers. I would like to not have to go on spider patrol every night, and I'd like my toddler daughter to not grow up with an irrational fear as well. Is there a way to cure her fear of spiders?

My friend's bullmastiff puppy has a swollen nose. There's suspicion of a possible spider bite from a wolf spider (black, with white dots). There are puncture wounds maybe 1mm apart, swelling about the size of a tablespoon, no rupture, nausea, diarrhea, or collapse. Nose is swollen, though. Go to the vet?

So, I manage a fairly high traffic website. But, there are a couple other websites that I'm involved with that I would like to link to off of my day job site for spidering reasons. If I just include these links on a couple of pages and hide them via comment tags, will the spider still go to them? Is this not up to search engine ethics? Are there search engine ethics? Thanks in advance.

I check my server logs pretty frequently, and am always pleased by the variety of visitors my site gets. I particularly love trying to suss out who's reading the site at any given moment by deconstructing their IP address and/or machine identity. (Ex-coworkers, ex-bosses and ex-girlfriends always especially amuse me.)
One thing I don't love: a machine called "tide70.microsoft.com" is literally "viewing" my site close to 100% of the time - like, whenever I check, it's on. Sometimes it's joined by up to thirty other "tide*" machines, but tide70 is always there. I have my ideas and suspicions, but can anyone confirm for me what the tide series is up to?
