I got a speeding ticket, but there was a car next to me that was speeding, while I was not. What is the likelihood that I can argue this in court? [more inside]

I've heard that it's easy to get photo radar tickets thrown out, especially tickets that are delivered by mail. Is this realistic, or is it one of those "you don't have to pay federal income tax" things? [more inside]

SpeedingTicketFilter: I just got a ticket for going 85 at a limited highway (70mph speed limit), outside of Detroit, MI (on I275). The problem is I had my cruise set at 74, so I know for a fact that I couldn't be going that fast. How do I fight it? [more inside]

I got an extremely expensive traffic ticket (my first! and $632!) for doing 97 in a 75 on a lonely stretch of road outside of Lovelock, Nevada. I paid the ticket, and asked the court (and the ticketing officer, at that point) about traffic school; they both said that the points wouldn't transfer to California or go on my record, but as far as traffic school to lower insurance went, it was between me and my insurance company, and they'd get in touch with me. However, can't I do something pre-emptively to keep this from going on my insurance record? Or am I screwed? I paid the fine in mid-June, just before it was due (took a little while to save the money); the ticket was issued in mid-May.

Got a deferral for a speeding ticket in Washington (if I another ticket within one year I have to pay off the old one plus the new one). If I got a ticket in another state like Michigan, would the WA court know about this and then come after me for my old ticket? Or is the system pretty much segregated by state?

LegalFilter. Back in Feb I had a 10-mile-over ticket in Austin TX. I plead guilty at a court cashier cage, paid the fines, and applied for a defensive driving deferral, but was in the midst of the move and could not do the class. I figured the violation would just get put on my record. Now I'm getting letters from Austin threatening me with a warrant if I don't appear in front of a judge on Sept 8. [more inside]
