What consequences will a Canadian speeding ticket have on a US resident?

I got clocked speeding in an area of Montreal with an 18 mph speed limit (that I didn't know about). I got a ticket and was sent on my way. As a US citizen and resident, I have questions about what impact (if any) this ticket will have on my license, insurance, and--if I choose not to pay the ticket--my ability to return to Canada. (Note: I am not seriously considering ignoring the ticket, I'm just curious.) [more inside]

California driver contesting a speeding ticket in West Virginia

A person with a California driver's license gets a speeding ticket while driving through West Virginia. The speed alleged on the ticket was 15 miles over the posted limit. What would be the insurance consequences if the driver simply paid off the ticket without contesting it? How could the driver find out more information about whether s/he should contest the ticket, or plead guilty to a lower speed? In what state should the person be looking for a lawyer to best answer her/his questions? What should be this person's next step? Also, would the answers be different if the alleged speed was 10 (or 9, or 5, or whatever) miles over the posted limit?

nyc speeding ticket - should I fight it?

Hello - just got a speeding ticket in manhattan (44 in a 30 zone). *I haven't had a ticket or violation of any kind in over 5 years (actually over 10 years). *honestly I was just passing an erratically driving bozo in front of me *it came out to $200, ouch. (plus probably 12% increase in insurance, which would come out to $80 to $100 per year). Ouch. Is this worth fighting? I'd wind up in tvb-land (harlem dmv office on 125th, i'm pretty sure). The cop got me on radar. I know it sounds like a lost cause - but would my spectacularly safe previous driving record, and that I was just passing a guy, help me at all? Is it worth trying? Whats your experience? Could I negotiate down to a non-moving violation based on the above? I've read elsewhere that having a clean previous record as I do can help? thanks for any advice.

Legal trouble from posting this video to youtube?

Speaking purely hypothetically, of course--imagine you took a scenic drive. You had a camera take a time-lapse of part of the journey. You stitch it together into a video, and want to post it on youtube. Let's also say that the visible speedometer sometimes displays speeds which are not, um, congruent to the legal speed limits. Speeding on the highway and lost my warning ticket!

Last Saturday, I was speeding on the highway leaving West Bloomfield, Michigan on my way to Cincinnati, Ohio. A police officer pulled me to the side and forgave me for the transgression by issuing me a speeding ticket warning that carries some sort of monetary penalty that my parents have to pay for. I lost the ticket stub itself and don't remember where I was on I-275/if I was even on I-275 and my Mom said that if I don't get it to her ASAP the fines will triple and I'll be grounded. Do any of you guys know if there is a central repository of tickets issued in Michigan that I can go to to see the warning ticket number since locating the exact spot on Google maps is difficult? If not, what can I do?

I was caught speeding at 97 in a 75... What can I do to get out of it?

I got clocked at 22 over the speed limit. The court date is September 10, the cop told me if I pay within the 20 days, they will drop it from 6 points to 4 points. Should I appear in court? What can I do to reduce this ticket? Will they reduce it if I go to court? How much will this raise my insurance? About me: 23, never had a ticket before this, pulled over once before and given a warning. The ticket is $250.

Not Double Jeopardy?

I was pulled over for speeding in the Adirondacks. I went to court. The officer didn't show up. The judge told me that I could plead guilty to a (no-points) charge and pay $100, or the prosecutor would drop the charges and then refile them, forcing me to drive 2 1/2 hours to court a second time. So of course I agreed to plead guilty and pay a hundred bucks. Is this legal? Or is it double jeopardy? Is there anything I could have done? YANML. [more inside]
