Hi, so last night I met a sweet family who hired me to be a companion/ nanny / caregiver for their son who has cerebral palsy. I am not a nurse, I work in a hospital but no patient contact. I have however, a few months of cerebral palsy experience from the time I volunteered in college . We were talking about money- and she said something : I usually pay my nurses 20/hour , but you know they are nurses. However, I am willing to pay you that if you will learn to do tube feeding. So I guess I am confused with what she said? I don't know how much she will pay me, cause she didn't say anything exact, right? Should I ask or should I let it go and see when she pays me? What would u do?
I (24yo F) live independently here in DC and have a good life. I have a great full-time job that pays pretty well for someone my age, go to grad school part time, and have a happy social life. I have an excellent relationship with my parents, but I need to talk to them about how my special needs sibling (21yo M) affects my life in the present and the future. I get along very well with my parents, but I'm not sure how to broach this topic in a way that is productive and respectful. [more inside]

Many years ago I had a fabulous lentil soup in a very nice Greek restaurant (in Greece) whose owners/chefs were Cretan, and which used many ingredients from Crete (which may or may not be pertinent to my question). This soup was very, very dark, like mahogany colored, rich but not thick, and fairly "oily" (which sounds bad, but it was heavenly), and it was soooo good. Now, all lentil soup is good, really. Mine is quite marvelous, but I've been remembering this soup for so long, and have never figured out how it acquired that color, or what ingredient(s) made it so different and special. Any ideas? Can you tell me what the name of this TV special was? It may have aired on Showtime or HBO in the late 80s or early 90s.
Long ago (late 80s? early to mid 90s?) my sister had a videocasette tape of something that was presumably recorded from Showtime or HBO. It seemed to be a "special" of some sort that involved a guy in a very stage-like unrealistic bedroom interacting with large monster-like puppets and singing strange comical songs. I think at some point he also swung on a vine from one area of the room to the other. There were a lot of musical segments. I think at one point he was dressed up in a safari outfit, but I'm not certain. I know I haven't provided a lot of details here, but maybe you know what I'm talking about?

Is anyone familiar with an Easter puppet special that was on (I think) HBO in the early '80s? I remember that it involved a bunch of bunnies working in an Easter egg factory, and that the Easter Bunny ("E.B.") was fairly nervous and might've had a Woody Allen-esque delivery. It definitely isn't "Tale Of The Bunny Picnic" (though that looks pretty cute, too). Bonus points if there's a streaming version anywhere online - I'd love to show this special to my bunny-obsessed niece. Thanks, all.

What alternative routes to teacher certification can I take as a person who already has a Masters in Education?
I have a Masters and certification in Early Childhood. Now I'd like to work as a special educator. Seems the only way to get there is another Masters in Special Ed. I'd like to find a way to do this cheaply and quickly. I have looked into Teaching Fellows and similar programs, and all specifically require that applicants have no background in teaching. What can I do?

How did Kubrick film the psychedelic 'stargate' sequence of "2001: A Space Odyssey"? Some of the movie's special effects are obviously crude CGI (like the cockpit displays during spacecraft rendezvous) but the ending seems far more sophisticated. Regular old animation? Looks too... digital. Articles on 'the making of' I've seen never discuss this all-important visual (although it's cool knowing about the spinning set used for example in the jogging scene).
