Recently I received an old hifi (stereo receiver with aux and phono inputs) and two EPI speakers from a family member. The system is quite old, but headphones sound great, as does one of the two speakers. The other sounds blown. What are my options in New York City?

[Home theater filter] Our newly-purchased apartment's living room is pre-wired for speakers but after doing plenty of research I'm totally overwhelmed with options, and not sure what exactly these wires are. Help me figure out what we should buy to take advantage of the hookups? Pictures and details inside.

I would much rather listen to Pandora through the speakers in this record player than my Insignia computer speakers. The record player has an RCA input on the back, so can I just get a 1/8" stereo-to-RCA adapter and plug it in?

How do I replace a blown woofer in a
Spica TC-60 loudspeaker? The
datasheet is here. I am generally capable, but don't know anything about building/repairing speakers. Can I get away with replacing just the one? Is there any danger of damaging the crossover (whatever that is)? The very nice guy from
Madisound recommended a
ScanSpeak replacement but how do I know if it will fit and/or work properly? If I'm reading the datasheet correctly, the original seems to be 180mm in diameter, and the replacement he recommended 170mm - is this a good idea? How can I tell if there's anything else I should try? What, if anything, do I seem to be overlooking? Thank you!

Audiophiles, please help. Any recommendations for wiring a living room for decent audio (from TV, radio, other devices)? We're renovating the living room and now's my chance to run wires wherever I want them - in the walls, under the floor, wherever.

Please guide me in buying 2 speakers plus sub-woofer and an amp for my 13 foot square home office (with TV and computer). I am adrift even after a good bit of research. My budget, room size and needs are more modest than in past questions I read. Also mail order is out. Lots of details and clarification within.

I killed my Logitech Ipod speakers, which I carted with me whenever I traveled, by leaving them plugged into a Madrid outlet with my transformer setting on "high." Doh! I love having good portable speakers with me when I travel, and am looking to replace with either
this Logitech model or these
Bose speakers.

I'm looking for a smallish iPod dock with speakers to put in the kitchen or dining room (anywhere else besides the living room which has the stereo). I'm not interested in a clock, I don't care if it doesn't charge the iPod, just good sound, and a usable decent remote so I could naivigate without having to get up.
