I am considering renting a car for good portion of an upcoming two-week trip to Portugal and possibly Spain. I have never rented a car or driven outside North America. I have some questions about this. [more inside]
(1) We have about 20 days to spend in between Barcelona and Lisbon (2) We can get anywhere but won't have a car once we're there...no license (3) We want coastal, but not built up like Barcelona (or even like Italian/French Riviera) (4) Our budget is somewhat flexible (ballpark of $200/nite), but it's more about the feel of the area [more inside]
At the very last minute, my mother has decided to take a trip from Aberdeen to Spain and Portugal. Ideally, she'd leave sometime this weekend or on Monday/Tuesday and spend a few days in each country - it doesn't matter much where in each country. UK-ers, any tips for agents or websites we can use to find reasonable flights? We were thinking of AirBnB for accommodations, but if you know of anything cheaper or easier, I'll take those recs too.

My extended family is trying to put together a trip to someplace interesting, warm and beach-y, to occur around New Year's. For a variety of complicated reasons related to where people will be traveling from, the Middle East, North Africa and far southern Europe are the most feasible destinations. Where should we consider going? [more inside]
Tell me about the weirdest, most magical, fantastical places in Spain. Places that have ghostly apparitions, spirit-sightings, woo-woo lines of crystal power or tombs of mad saints. Spooky forests, castles, places hippies flock to. Places where the guide books start the descriptions with "legend has it..." Fairy tale towns. Roman ruins. You get the idea. Places in Portugal welcomed as well. (Going for two weeks at the end of May. Delicious food & scenery is great, but I'm really looking to spark my imagination.)
Tugafi: where in South London should i go to watch the Portugal/Spain game tomorrow? I'd like to watch in a Portuguese place, not a Spanish one. There are 30,000 Portuguese in South London, I think mainly around Vauxhall, Brixton, Stockwell. I know there are a bunch of restaurants on South Lambeth Road, but not sure how good they'll be for the football. We'll hopefully be between 5 and 10 people. Suggestions?
Honeymooning! What must we see in southern Portugal or Spain? [more inside]
How can my family and I (including 3 children) travel to Europe for at a reasonable cost next summer? We are open to flying into pretty much anywhere in Europe, as I think we can travel within Europe pretty cheaply once we get there-it's the cost of getting there from the West Coast of the US that has me worried. Of course, there is [more inside]

just another European travel filter: I just spontaneously bought a round-trip flight to Madrid and have 3 weeks to burn. Any ideas for itinerary? [more inside]

The last weekend in August: Madrid or Lisbon? [more inside]
I am meeting some friends in Madrid on Mar 30th, but have a few days before that and I thinking of flying out early. The friends and I are headed to Ronda, so before that journey, I want to try something else. I am leaning toward Portugal. . . (more) [more inside]
