I'm visiting Madrid from 25 October till 1 November and Paris from 1 till 5 November. Any suggestions for evening entertainment such as raves or halloween parties?

After some recent immersion in learning Spanish, watching Spanish films and going to Spanish conversation Meetups, I have realised I might want to have a go at teaching English as a Second Language in either Barcelona or Madrid. I have a few questions about the feasability of this at my age (42) given that the Spanish economy is not in great shape and my resume has a massive hole in it.

Simple question: Where do we need to eat and sleep in Madrid and Barcelona?
We are planning a summer trip to Spain (4 nights in Madrid, 2 nights in Barcelona, 1 night in Girona).
The Girona portion of the trip is set -- dinner at
El Celler de Can Roca for an extravagant birthday experience.
What we need are suggestions for restaurants and hotels in Madrid and Barcelona.
(We're also planning day trips to Segovia and Toledo, so you could include lunch spots in those places if you'd like.)
A few notes: we are fairly sophisticated dinners, but we also love simple, straightforward food-of-the-people. Our hotel tastes run toward contemporary/modern, but we're not opposed to something classic -- we just want to avoid international chains.
Thanks for any/all suggestions!

I need a laundromat in Madrid, Spain. They seem to not exist and the threads online that list a few are quite old and the locations no longer exist (see:
this thread and note.
Surely this is not so. If none exists, an acceptable laundry service that will, for a reasonable price, wash and dry clothes without heavily perfumed (or perfume free) detergent [not a dry cleaning] will do... preferably near Gran Via, but anywhere will do at this point.

I'm in Madrid this semester, and would like to pick up an old rangefinder camera (film) or similar for around 20 euros. Is digging around antique shops and similar my best bet? Do you know a place? Or are there actually some not-terribly-expensive used camera shops in this big pretty city? Are there secondhand shops/thrift stores at all in this town? Aware of El Rastro, tried once with no luck and will probably try again Sunday. I'll also be in London next weekend and am not opposed to buying it there if you know a place.

In a few weeks I will be moving to Madrid (Spain) for 3-6 months. I am used to cycling to work and I am trying to determine if that might be possible there. Is it common to see cyclists on the road in Madrid? Are there cycling lanes? Are drivers used to driving around cyclists or am I having a deathwish?
Any further pointers, opinions and advice highly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm leaving for Spain tomorrow and going to Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, and Cordoba. Can anyone recommend any truly bizarre museums in any of these cities? I'm a big fan of things like deformed fetuses in jars and old medical instruments. Other types of off-beat, funny museum suggestions would be great too. Thanks!

I'm a qualified British TEFL teacher with about 2 years experience living in the UK. I want to teach in Spain and have applied for a few jobs online in the last month but heard nothing. I am thinking of just moving to Madrid to find work, is that the only realistic way of getting a job quickly (I don't have a lot of cash) or should I hold on and try and secure a job before I leave?

MadridFilter: I'm headed off to Madrid in a month for an exchange program and am trying to gauge how to best take advantage of my time and get the most out of four short months. Any advice about Madrid in general? Things that can't be missed? Long Weekend trips that should be taken?
