Display Affinity Software for MacOSX?

Is there a piece of Mac OS X software which will let me divide a very wide screen up into several virtual displays so window/app affinity hacks like spaces will work? I recently purchased two 24" HD displays, and I'm running them both from my Mac Book Pro via a Matrox Triple Head 2 Go, Digital version (Dual-link DVI)

I love having all of this real-estate - it's truly wonderful for programming.

The problem is that the Triple Head 2 Go makes both monitors present as one huge, wide display to the OS.

This means whenever any centered alerts pop up, they are right in the middle of this giant screen, and split by the bezels.

OK, so it's not the worst thing in the world, I just need to move the window to make it legible.

But, I was wondering if there's any third-party or shareware software out there that will allow me to tune the screen location affinity of apps or windows or alerts.

The real solution to this, I know, is to have a desktop machine with multiple display cards, but that's not happening at the moment.

Stupid Javascript question

I want to have data with spaces in it, in a link that is sent to a javascript function but it does not work. What am I doing wrong? I want something like this to pass the data to a function, imagine inside a a link in the onClick=somefn('Data with a space'). It works fine for data without a space but doesn't work for data with a space.

What happened to my dock (et al)??

I was recently trying to add a "Recents" stack to my dock in Mac OS 10.5.2 using Terminal. I entered a command, pressed enter, and then restarted the dock. From then on, I could not use the dock anymore, nor Dashboard, Spaces, Expose, or the application switcher. I also noticed that my motion sensors do not work anymore. Everything still works on other accounts on my computer, just not on my administrator account. Any ideas about how to fix this?

Not So Mighty Mouse

Help me find a (non-Mighty) mouse for my Mac that can be programmed to function with Exposé and Spaces. I've been using my Mac Pro for a few years now, and the Mighty Mouse is starting to drive me crazy. The scroll ball jams up every few days and has to be thoroughly cleaned and smacked around just to work again.

I also have a Logitech gaming mouse from my previous PC, but it doesn't have the ability to assign buttons to Exposé and Spaces, which is something I really, really enjoy.

Is there a 3rd party mouse that can be programmed to take on these functions, but doesn't have that horrible little scroll ball of the Mighty Mouse?

If not, can I either clean the scroll ball so that it STAYS clean, or get software to make my Logitech (MX 5000, I think) work properly?

It doesn't have to be cordless, and it doesn't have to be too gamer-friendly, since I switch to my Logitech for WoW, etc. anyway.

Thanks.

Replace Double Spaces With Singles Automatically?

Is there a way to get Word to automatically replace double spaces between sentences with single spaces? I edit a literary magazine, and people are always sending me documents in which they've put two spaces in between sentences instead of the proper one space. I end up having to go in and take out all those spaces manually. Is there any alternative?

What salary should I expect as a young assistant editor for the monthly magazine of the leading organization of professional _________ engineers?

What salary should I expect as a young assistant editor for the monthly magazine of the leading organization of professional _________ engineers? Them: The magazine claims to have 32,000 professional readers across the world with significant "purchasing power." They charge $5,555 for a full page ad (though it drops if you place the same ad multiple times and obvs goes up a couple thousand if the ad is on the backpage or near the front cluttering up the reader's journey to the table of contents).

Me: I graduated college a year ago with a dual degree in History and ________ Engineering; have plenty of on-campus editorial, writing and layout experience; an English minor; and have spent the past year doing engineering work with some freelance writing in my spare time.

Based on the expensive urban location, Salary.com (which doesn't have "Assistant Editor" as an option, so I picked both "Reporter I" and "Communications Editor I"), puts me between 28k (low for "Reporter I") and as high as 75k (high for "Com Editor I").

Is 50-60k too high a hope for me to have, or just about right given that the ideal candidate for this job is a "________ engineering/print media" mutant. Also, among the engineering disciplines, this is typically one of the higher paying ones (i.e. not civil).

(Sorry, Civil E.'s! Some of my best friends are Civils: the jocks of the engineering world.)

Good public study spaces in South Florida?

Favorite libraries or public study spaces in South Florida? I recently went into business for myself, but don't quite need an office just yet. I have been spending a lot of time at Starbucks, but my weak will combined with expensive, readily available treats is causing me to become fat and poor. I need wireless internet, and don't mind paying for it. I have spent some time in the local public libraries, but the ones I find are usually small and depressing. My dream would be a lush university library or something similar. Does anyone have a favorite library or other public study space?

GoLive "stl:xxx" tags causing spacing woes

Anyone know anything at all about Adobe GoLive's use of <stl :xxx>-type HTML tags? Its insertion of these tags around dates, places, etc is causing extra spaces to pop up, throwing off proper punctuation and basically just making copytext look bad.</stl> Apologies if the formatting is still borked, it's very difficult to get something like this working well with the way HTML is handled here :(

The marketing person at my job uses GoLive to edit some aspects of our company webpage (blech) and it seems to add in these odd tags around various things such as dates and place names.

They are not used in any formatting fashion that I can see (certainly such a setup is not used on these particular pages, as the text in question is not being styled any differently) but because they're put in with a bunch of newlines, it causes extra spaces to show up.

So for example, we'd have something like this:

    Blah blah blah New York, NY, blah blah.

The HTML in GoLive then looks like this:

    Blah blah blah
    <stl:City>
        New York
    </stl:City>
    ,
    <stl:Place>
        NY
    </stl:Place>
    , blah blah.

All those extra newlines between "New York" and the comma turn into a space, so it looks like:

Blah blah blah, New York , NY, blah blah.

Anyway, Google is turning up exactly zero about anything called "STL" (except for C++'s Standard Template Language, and St Louis -- removing those from the search do not turn up anything useful) and GoLove's own documentation and support forums are bare on the subject.

I've searched through as many of the preferences and features that I can find (never used the app myself, I do all my HTML/CSS in text editors) and nothing seems to deal with these tags.
