Help me make my garden tastier

I've never had a garden before. I recently bought a house in Canberra with a small established garden, mainly native Australian plants. It has a drip watering system. There isn't a lot of room, but there are a few things I have always wanted to grow, and I've got no idea whether it is possible to fit them in somehow, or where I should put them. I know I can't do anything until just before spring, but I want to start planning now. [more inside]

It’s lonely out in space, on such a timeless (simulated) flight.

With inspiration from this answer to this this question; I am giving my husband a week at Space Camp this holiday! Yay! Since this isn't exactly the most wrappable gift, and we are doing the gift-exchange thing in front of his entire family, please help me find the most awesome way to present this gift to him! I'm totally cool with suggestions that necessitate other purchases as long as the cost is fairly minimal (say, <$100). (Anon as he is an avid reader of ask.me)

Nothing worse than having an itch you can't scratch

How do astronauts and other trained professionals deal with itches while in pressurized suits for long durations of time? Does NASA make astronauts undergo "tickle conditioning" to reduce the stress caused by having an itch one can't scratch, or, likewise, the military with fighter pilots? Do the subjects just get used to the feeling, so that the itch deadens? Are antihistamines or similar drugs administered pre-flight? Has weightlessness been found to affect these and related parts of the nervous system that manage sensations of pain, discomfort, heat, cold, etc.?

Space aliens visit earth to experience emotions

About a month ago I heard a partial interview with a short story author (male) and one of the stories was about aliens who come to Earth to experience emotions by inhabiting our bodies. They vacation here because our life span is very short compared to theirs. They were very, very tall on their planet. This story has been stuck in my mind. I emailed NPR and they couldn't figure it out either. Help!
