Trying to find a song based on what I remember on the music video. Was sung by a woman, kind of melancholy sounding. Most notable part of the music video was a woman riding a horse and she had dramatically long hair that floated through the sky. [more inside]
Contact by Daft Punk supposedly "contains audio from the Apollo 17 mission used by courtesy of NASA and Capt. Eugene Cernan". The sample says: "Hey Bob, I'm looking at what Jack was talking about and it's definitely not a particle that's nearby. It is a bright object and it's obviously rotating because it's flashing, it's way out in the distance, certainly rotating in a very rhythmic fashion because the flashes come around almost on time. As we look back at the Earth it's up at about 11 o'clock, about maybe ten or twelve diame...Earth diameters. I don't know whether that does you any good, but there's something out there." When I Google this I find only Daft Punk references. Is it a genuine soundbite from the Apollo 17 mission or did those wacky French robots make it up?

Lately, '80s/'90s dream pop a la Galaxie 500 has really been hitting the spot. Please recommend more music that will send me drifting away into a sea of fuzzy bliss. [more inside]

What are some of your favorite obscure electronic music singles? I'm looking for the kind of stuff where an otherwise unremarkable or unrecognized artist managed to release one perfect song. [more inside]
Music Mix Filter: Long story short, next week the model at my event is coming dressed as the Alien Queen from the ALIEN movies. I have no idea what kind of music to play for the background. The film scores seem obvious but who wants to listen to clanking and increasing strings for 3 hours? I can either go scary-horror-sci-fi or campy-alien-novelty songs. Ideally I could do both. What kind of weird space music recommendations do you have? Gotta have songs about alien invaders?
How do bands in cities practice? I've got the band, I need the space. [more inside]
[Old-man-space-donut-filter] I remember seeing a music video (I think linked off a mefi post) that featured an old man in a space ship and a donut with sprinkles. It was very surreal. What was it?
I need some space songs! I'm putting together a power point slide show for a teachers' awards ceremony. The teachers just finished participating in a professional development program that focused on space science, so I'd like the slide show to have space music to go with the photos. [more inside]
The Final Frontier: I'm looking for music with a sci-fi feel, the kind of music you might have heard at a planetarium display when you were a kid. [more inside]
