Seeking solutions for cracks in homemade soy candles

I've been making soy candles and have run into a small problem. I've poured the wax too soon/quickly and it has shrunk and cracked when it dried in the cups/jars. I'm looking for solutions to fix this please. Would putting the candles in a warm oven work? Pour new wax over? I can't find an internet solution so far, only what to do different for the next batch.

Can very small children drench their noodles in soy sauce?

I have a three-and-a-half-year-old that thinks noodles are the condiment, and ultra-strong soy sauce the main dish. We give her something like a tablespoon full or two of it with her noodles. The thing is, soy sauce is alcoholic. [more inside]

Chicken Karaage Variations?

I've discovered I love making Chicken Karaage. It's boneless fried chicken in corn/potato starch but ready in just about an hour and has simple, straightforward steps. What kind of variations could I try out? Different flavors/marinades? Different coatings or flavored coatings? Different chunks of meat? Novel dips that pair well? Other ways to fancy it up? Allergic to soy milk but not miso? Are you allergic to tempeh, etc.?

I am allergic to soy milk. As confirmed in my doctor's office today, I am not allergic to miso (we used straight miso paste to eliminate any doubts. It has been claimed that the fermentation process changes the protein enough that it doesn't trigger an allergy. I have considered doing the same test for tempeh but first wanted to see if there were people out there allergic to soy milk but not tempeh, as the prep for the test is quite uncomfortable and I would prefer not to do it if the likelihood of a good outcome is vanishingly small. So, soy allergic MeFites, can you eat tempeh?

Going to Tokyo, allergic to soy. Help me build a list of "safe" dishes!

I'm going to Tokyo in the fall. I'm allergic to soy. It is an allergy triggered by the soy protein, which means that tofu and edamame are not OK but soy sauce is because the protein is denatured. (This is common for people who are allergic to soy - I am no special snowflake.) The easy solution would seem to be to live on yakitori and yakiniku...but I'm also a vegetarian. Difficulty level = 11! [more inside]

Obviously hard-boiled eggs and peanut butter will feature, but what are some good combinations? I've seen this askme, but I can still have eggs, and I'm specifically looking for quick things for lunch and breakfast.

Less packaging, more deliciousness?

I drink nondairy milks (mostly almond, some soy) and eat tofu. When I have made these things in the past, I have enjoyed the results but ended up with a lot of dirty dishes. A friend recommended the Soyajoy G3, which is a countertop electric appliance that heats and grinds the nuts/beans (previously in 2005, about an earlier model). Does anyone have experience with electric soy/nut-milk makers?

Tofu, so sweet and tasty. Tofu, don't be too hasty. Tofu...tofu tofu tofu!

What is the best time and temperature for baked tofu? Every recipe I read seems to differ wildly on those factors. I've made some that has worked, and some that hasn't. The one time I got it just right I forgot to make a note of which recipe I used. I like it crispy on the outside but still a bit soft inside. Thoughts?

Soy milk makers

Any experience with home soy milk makers? Packaged soy milk is so expensive, yet soybeans are pretty cheap, so I'm considering getting a home soy milk making machine. I did try making soy milk myself, manually, many years ago and was underwhelmed by the result, which tasted more like bean soup than milk, and it took a lot of time and effort and, apparently, skill. But these machines make it seem so easy even a child could do it and so cheap that I couldn't afford not to get one.

Will the biodiesel revolution kill people with peanut/soybean allergies?

I've been interested in the growing chatter about biodiesel. Some friends raised an interesting question, though: peanut allergies are increasingly common and are increasingly lethal. Soybean allergies, although less common, still exist. Will biodiesel emissions from peanut or soybean oil cause negative reactions (like, well, death) in people with severe allergies? If so, what type of regulation on biodiesel is likely?
