Searching for a song from a 09's Mike Leigh film

Mike Leigh's move Career girls has a song over the end credits, which I assume is by Marianne Jean-Baptiste, who is credited with the soundtrack. Much googling has yielded lots of information (Tweed Records, Tony Remy), but not the song itself. Does anyone have an mp3 they'd be comfortable steering me toward? I'd love to hear it again.

Metropolis music question

What is the music that plays over the Shift Change scene near the beginning of Fritz Lang's Metropolis in the particular version of the movie that is streamed online through netflix.com? Would love to know composer and title... Or just info about which soundtrack is used with that version. I know there are lots of versions and lots of soundtracks -- And I'm not coming up with any answers after lots of searching. The picture netflix shows as the DVD cover for the version they stream is of an edition that is supposed to involve the original 1927 soundtrack, yet I can watch other replays of the scene on youtube that also say they use the original soundtrack, and this tune is definitely not involved. At the end of the movie there are no credits, and the info on netflix.com doesn't mention the score.

My husband and I also feel that we've heard the music before, possibly in a commercial. We can't place it though.

Recommend music like the Bothers Bloom score

Can you recommend music similar to the Brothers Bloom score? I saw The Brothers Bloom this week and loved the score, especially "Double Dutch Queens" and "Penelope's Theme." I downloaded the soundtrack from Amazon, but it's not great music to listen to--the soundtrack is just a soundtrack and not a full score. I want to hear music that's similar to these tracks but that are fully composed songs. Any recommendations?

Theme song filter: I really like the song that is the opening to the Swedish Chef skit on the Muppet Show. IMDB seems to suggest that there is a recording of this song that I could buy, but I can't find anything on Amazon or Google. So, I query the hive mind: anyone know where I can get this song, preferably without the chef "singing along"?

Soundtrackfilter: Please recommend to me mostly-instrumental, sometimes dark, contemplative soundtrack albums (or even compilations or regular albums) in the vein of Michael Andrews' work for Donnie Darko or Robin Guthrie and Harold Budd's soundtrack for Mysterious Skin. As you might imagine from me citing Donnie Darko, I'm also open to soundtracks with a considerable 80s synth cheese element - even better if the songs are tweaked a bit a la M83 to not be so cheesy. Anything on the brooding <> inspired spectrum is especially welcome. As a point of reference, I very much enjoyed the recent movie Brick and would like to find soundtrack or ambient songs that capture that sort of "pieces fall into place, and it's awesome/terrible" feeling.

Thanks in advance, hivemind! My guess is that anyone with broad exposure to ambient, modern classical, guitar-based instrumental, electronic shoegaze, post-rock, etc. albums is sitting on at least a few recommendations.

Suggestions on funny/clever/good songs to use when compiling a soundtrack for a lobster boil? I have no idea what started it, but my friends and I are going to be boiling up some tasty lobster tonight, and I want to have a good soundtrack to go along with it.

So far, I have the obvious Rock Lobster by the B-52s, and the following others (some a bit silly, some a bit morbid):
1) Killing Me Softly by Roberta Flack
2) Splish Splash by Bobby Darin

Any other ideas?

Music in (500) Days of Summer, but not on the soundtrack There's a song in (500) Days of Summer that I need to define. I remember humming along to it during the movie and since I knew the tune I didn't bother to look it up in the ending credits. I also wrongly assumed I could find it on the soundtrack. The song I'm talking about is most likely from Wilco, with a slim chance it was Son Volt. Either way, I can't find out which song was in that movie.

Can anyone name the song that is used in the 9.99 trailer? NameThatSongFilter: The trailer for 9.99 contains a song that starts right at about 58 seconds in, with the lyrics starting at around 1:10.

So, I'm running a Firefly/Serenity roleplaying game and I'm looking for recommendations for some suitable background music... ...of course I've bought the series and movie sountrack CDs, now I'm looking for some music that captures the spirit of the background.

I'm looking for something 'traditional Chinese' sounding, but maybe played on modern instruments, or with modern overtones/beats etc., and the same with something 'Border world Browncoat-ey' and 'Central planets Alliance-ey' (which might well be the Chinese sounds but other stuff too).

I'm not so much looking for songs/tunes *about* the series and characters but more the kind of music they might hear about the 'verse, in the bars/ports when they land to do crime and be bad guys!

Any suggestions would be shiny, thank you!

Please help me find a website from the past that explained what soundtracks commercials were using. I am looking for a website that was fairly popular in the IT circles I as in back around 2000/2001. It was dedicated to posting new commercials, and sourcing their soundtracks. I ended up buying quite a few CDs based on hearing songs in commercials and being able to find out quickly through that site, who and what I was listening to.

I'm pretty sure the site is long dead and gone. I believe there was some legal scuffle over it, and it went the way of the dodo. What I'd like to find out is, what was it? What was the story of it's creation and demise? And, if possible, has anyone done anything like it since, or currently?

where can i find the song 'herculaneum' which plays over the closing credits of the film gomorrah? i've located a lo-res stream, but i can't find a copy of the track for download or purchase anywhere. there is no soundtrack for sale as there is no soundtrack; apparently, 3D (of massive attack), convinced the director this was the only song needed for the whole film.

what genre of music is the song from the generals daughter during the credits at the end? at the end of the generals daughter with john travolta, there is a song during the credits, i cant find it on any soundtrack or google. what is the song and what is the genre? it almost sounds like tribal or folk... i just picture people/creatures doing a ceremonious dance around their captives...i dont know but it gives me the creeps, im just curious

Help me id a piece of music from the Skins Season 2 DVD. I recently watched season 2 of Skins on DVD and I'm looking for a piece of music from episode 4 (Michelle). It's the scene with Sid and Michelle on the beach, in the original tv broadcast the song used for was Untitled 3 (Samskeyti) by Sigur Rós.

Due to licensing issues there's a lot of different tracks on the DVD release and I quite liked the replacement, unfortunately I wasn't able to find out what it is called, my research on several Skins forums and Google came up with nothing.

Please help me find other songs that have a similar sound to the first 30 seconds of Vampire Weekend's M79. I am looking for upbeat, celebratory, instrumental music to use as background music for my brother's wedding video. I really like the combination of strings and drums in the Vampire Weekend song. I recently produced some high definition videos to use internally at work. They used music from the Iron Man OST - Suddenly my company wants these to go public on our website - help me find alternative music! The 2 tracks I've used are "Mark II" and "Damn Kid". I've tried a few websites that offer royalty free or stock music, but they always sound cheap and nasty. Where can I find the best quality, free or royalty free music?

Soundtrack for a route 66 Drive

Two music lovers traveling all of Route 66 from Chicago to LA. Help me build the perfect iPod soundtrack for every step of the way! This July my wife and I are traveling Route 66, starting at its beginning in Chicago, taking it down all the way to LA, then driving back at a more established route. We are both the type to enjoy music in the car, and we are going to have about 46 hours in the car over the span of 12 days, so I'm starting to plan music NOW.

What I'd like is music that is either perfect road trip music or music that epitomizes our current location at a given time.

For example, given the similarity of our trip to the Griswalds, I have Lindsey Buckingham's "Holiday Road" to start.

Trying to avoid the major cliches like Radar Love and On The Road Again.

So far as music tastes, I'm very Pop/Rock/Metal/Hip Hop, she's Alternative/Pop/Hair Metal/grunge. Neither of us are really into country unless it's crossover country (a'la some Garth Brooks or Taylor Swift stuff).

So help me fill my iPod with tunes to keep the trip fun and interesting, and preferably something able to be found without a huge scavenger hunt for the track.

I'm looking for showtunes from recent Broadway and off-Broadway musicals. This is not for any project. It's just to expand my horizons when it comes to recent musicals.

The last musicals I've seen are Wicked and Monty Python's Spamalot, both of which I enjoyed. But anything in the last ten years would be appreciated.

I'm asking for individual song recommendations rather than an entire album. If I like the one or two songs you suggest, I'll take a look at the whole show.

I prefer more rockin' musicals like Chess and Rent, but I don't mind old-school sounds in the style of, say, Guys and Dolls. Please feel free to include little-known or "failed" shows; after all, the book for Chess is pretty clumsy but "One Night in Bangkok" will live forever.

Thanks for your help. Until musicals become part of the algorithms for iTunes' Genius feature or Pandora, I'll have to rely Mefites for Broadway recommendations. Just like the "old" days...

I'd like a complete, sequential list of the music in Michael Mann's film Heat. I thought this might be too specific a question. But after this...

I'm trying to assemble a sort of "Esper Edition" of the Heat soundtrack. But I've been stymied by the lack of a complete, sequential list of the songs used.

I've consulted both this Wikipedia article and the IMDB sountrack listing. But I can't tell if the William Orbit songs are listed sequentially if they have no lyrics and I've never heard either of them before.

Can anyone tell me what songs were on the soundtrack of House last night? The hubby and I were watching House last night (Oct 21) and heard a song near the end of the show that we wanted to know more about (like where to buy it!). It had great male harmonies. Unfortunately we accidentally deleted it from our Tivo so I can't do a search based on lyrics. Can anyone help?
