What is the name of the warbling, sort of buzzy effect heard on the background accompaniment part? (It's hard to tell whether it's strings or a synthesizer.) Is it some kind of delay effect? (Link inside question.)

Asking for my husband: I just got the
Heat soundtrack, and it is intense and moody. I am looking for other soundtracks, or actual albums, that fit that bill. Obviously Blade Runner, and I am imagining a lot of Friedkin films, but the mix of dark and strong is something I would like to hear more of.

Please suggest songs (mostly but not exclusively blues and americana) for a soundtrack to a story about two very bad people on a cross-country Bonnie & Clyde-style crime spree.
Ideally the lyrics would be at least a little bit relevant, but that's less important than the tone. The best example I have so far is Holly Golightly's
Devil Do.

Maybe my favorite aspect of Werner Herzog's
Encounters at the End of the World is the soundtrack, specifically whatever choral group is singing through out the film. For some reason I can't find information on who they are, and it doesn't appear that soundtracks were released. Anybody know who this group is and where I can find their music? I believe he used them in
Cave of Forgotten Dreams as well.

Looking for some help in locating music. Friends of mine have created a short film for a contest and are looking for some royalty-free film music to complement the piece. Does anyone know of an extensive library of downloadable royalty-free soundtrack work from perhaps the 40s, 50s and 60s? We only have ten short days to complete the film, that is why we are seeking pre-recorded existing music. A lot of those music sites charge absurd rates for royalty-free tracks. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I've been filling some of my idle time by playing Bastion (
previously), and have fallen in love with the
soundtrack. I'm pretty sure I remember some thematically similar stuff in Firefly, as well, for what that's worth. The Bastion team have categorized it as "acoustic frontier trip-hop," but since that's a genre that they pretty much just made up, I was hoping that my fellow AskMe folks could point me at other similar music. Special snowflake details after the break.

Can you recommend movie scores that sound like the OST for
Brick? Organic and evocative, particularly like the last 5-10 seconds of that trailer. Almost like music that's been made without using traditional musical instruments. Words like jangly or handmade come to mind. Thanks!

Your tall musical order: I'm looking for instrumental tracks. Less than four minutes. Must have three "acts" that build from a quiet open to a mid-tempo, mid-power second act. Third and final act must end in a jump-out-of-your-chair fist-pump
f*ck yeah moment (that may or may not taper away afterwards).

What's the name of that song that you play on your running playlist that makes you push yourself further? You know the one - you're jogging at a decent, steady pace and then it comes on and mentally you go "Oh, YES!" and suddenly everything seems to get a lot more awesome and you are running full pelt with a huge grin on your face.

I’m in love with The Clash at Demonhead from the Scott Pilgrim movie. Unfortunately, they are fictional and Metric, the band that arranged it doesn’t have that harder sound I’m liking in TCAD. What real band sounds like them? (Strong female lead on vocals, good rhythm, slightly distorted sound, anthem-y? and yes I have heard of the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs).
