Help me identify the clich├ęd sound effect used to label locations in certain films and tv shows.

Is there a real world referent for that bleeping typing noise used in some films as a text (usually a location note) appears on the screen? It's a similar thing to that chunka-chunka typing sound used in the X-Files when the location of a new scene would be announced, but it's like a very rapid, high-pitched "beedeebeedeebeedeebeep" sound played while the letters appear. Any good, detailed articles on sound design in movies?

I really enjoyed this NYT article on sound design in No Country For Old Men. Does anyone have any links/references to any similar articles about sound design in other films, past or present? Ideally they'd be a little longer and more detailed than the NYT piece, but I'd rather not read a book on this (unless it's brilliant!)
