I'd like to sing some good Irish songs with a bunch of kids (I play the guitar) to have them learn something about Irish culture. Could you point at some meaningful, beautiful, traditional Irish songs ? (Tabs, melody, lyrics and background resources welcomed).

OddballPlaylistFilter: I'd like to make a playlist of songs that use a specific musical allusion -- the single repeating note
doot-do-doot-doot-doot-do-doot that represents "signal transmission." But I can only think of two examples.

I am unable to find a song that I once had on my iPod. It's a post-rock number. Although there are no lyrics (that I recall, anyway), there
is an extended sample (I don't know from where) of a guy talking about a hot night when the power went out in his apartment complex. He talks about a woman who lit candles, and somehow in the end this leads to an apartment fire. The song feels like the soundtrack to a dream. My memory is not 100% on these details. It's been well over a year since I heard it. But the song was really good and I think about it now and then and I really miss having it. Anyone recognize it?

It's time to plan the Spring Concert performance for a Kindergarten class, having a "Jungle" theme; and aside from the limitations imposed by circumstances, only one rule applies: "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" has been banned after five consecutive years of being performed in every concert no matter what the theme.

help me ID this song from the 80s:
This is a song about a sweater, how it possibly unravels, or involves a boy and a girl, and would have been played on the radio as a new release in the 1980s.
Not Weezer's Sweater Song, something different!
It was odd (maybe a novelty song?), involving more spoken language than actual singing. King Missile's Detachable P*nis always reminded me of this earlier song for some reason.
I've been trying to figure out this song for years, and any searching I do turns up Weezer, and that's not it. I remember it getting a lot of radio play in Knoxville, TN where I grew up, some time during the 1980s.

ForgottenSongFilter: I am trying to help a friend recall a song, with dismal results (so far). All we know is that it is a hip hop/R&B/radio-pop type song, likely from the mid-1990s, with a female vocal in the chorus. The chorus is something along the lines of "This is the..." with a spelled out phrase following that, likely beginning with the letter L. There may or may not be "party sounds" in the background. HELP!?!
