Poetry and dance

What songs fuse poetry or spoken word with music? The closest I can think of are Baz Luhrmann's "Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)" and Poe's "Hey Pretty". I'd be especially interested in mashups that do this.

My ears are requesting some swoony swagger.

I'm looking for more songs like these three (male vocals, with dark and dour swoony swagger): Elbow - The Fix, The Damned - Torture Me, Blur - To the End. I already know about Murder by Death, Firewater, Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, Joy Division, Morphine and Marc Almond...what am I missing?

Music to make me cry?

I've been listening to Johnny Cash's American V and it is breaking my heart. I'm in a wallowing mood and looking for other such raw emotional songs that are relatively simple (not a lot of instruments). Any genre. [more inside]
