I'm driving cross country and am looking to make a mix CD for the road using songs about America. Ask Metafilter has previously tackled similar questions dealing with songs about Los Angeles, California, New York, New Jersey and even Europe, but what are some of the best songs about America?

What are some songs where the narrator's occupation is the focus of the song? For instance, "Customer" by Raheem DeVaughn, where the lovin' comes with fries, or "Garbage Man" by Ike Turner (thanks Miss Lynnster), where the lovin' is expressed through gifts of garbage. [more inside]

What are some songs about flying, preferably in a plane of some kind? My friend is a pilot and I want to make a mixtape for him with some songs about flying. So far, all I've come up with is the following: AF607105 - Charlotte Gainsbourg (even if it does involve a crash, it's lovely) Learning to Fly - Pink Floyd Come Fly with Me - Frank Sinatra Anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance!

WhyDoesItHurtSoMuchFilter: Recently, my boyfriend of about 3 years broke up with me. Apparently not because of anything I did, but because he needs to "sort some stuff out" (which apparently means jumping into the arms of another man in under a week, but I digress). Unfortunately, I'm still madly in love with him. Oh, and we're roommates. Anyway, I'm looking for songs that I can buy from iTunes Music Store to express the mixture of sadness / betrayal / anger / hopelessness / listlessness / general malaise / etc. I'm feeling. Can you name these tunes?
1. This one sounds like movie music, but I haven't been able to track it down.

2. I think this is the bonus track on Spell's "Mississippi" album. Can anyone verify?

3. This was recorded off a college radio station in Lowell MA in the early 90s. It's a mix of a song, and a woman speaking about pleasuring herself (the "I am satisfied" parts..... Can anyone find the source of either?
4. And another one from the same mix tape...
