What does the phrase "Look Away" mean in the chorus of the song "Dixie".

In the (traditional Southern U.S.) song "Dixie", what is meant by the lyric "Look away" from the chorus "Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land." O, I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times there are not forgotten
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.

I'm unfamiliar with use of "look away" in this context, and I imagine that it's an idiomatic usage that, well... meant something in the mid-19th century. What was it? Thanks.
