(Song ID) E noto corrente - ? Song ID help requested.

Sounded Spanish. There was a refrain that sounded like "e noto corrente." It was contemporary, e.g., some synth, some accordion, and I think it had the generic hip hop rhythm in the background ....

IdentifyThisElectronicMusicFilter: Does anybody know the name/artist/album of this minimal electronic track I found in a liveset (big mp3)? Or anything similar? I've been obsessed with this track (and liveset) for months and I really hope it's not an unreleased track from Move D and Benjamin Brunn because I hope it just points me in the direction of a new artist.

Anyway, if you don't know, but do know something you think I would like if I liked this track, that would be great too.

What's this song with a jaunty melody?

What's this song with a jaunty melody I just heard playing in Lowe's? It's a midtempo, happyish mildly whimiscal indie-band sounding tune. The instrumental hook caught my ear, with a couple playful orchestral instruments - maybe trombone and some strings - playing jauntily alternating root and third notes several times at the start of a repeating phrase. Not much to go on, but since I heard it in Lowe's just now, maybe it caught the ear of someone else out there.

The only lyrics I managed to catch were the (statistically probable) phrase "head in the clouds"... and it's not Mark Owen, or Backseat Goodbye, as Google and my friends guess.

Artists it sounded like it could have been, to help hone in on the sound:
Vampire Weekend (my first instinct)
Death Cab for Cutie
Polyphonic Spree

It's a shot in the dark, but I thought I'd try. Anyone work at Lowe's?

[SongID filter] So I heard a song while shopping in the Banana Republic outlet store this morning, and I really liked it. [Don't judge me, Judgy Judgerton...] It sounded a lot like the Magnetic Fields (I'm still half-convinced the voice was Stephen Merritt), a little like M Ward, a little like Jens Lekman.

It had a bunch of jangling bells, some shushy instrumental bedding, and the only lyric I can remember being repeated: "but in a hundred years, I'll be right back here." It's not a lot to go on, but by your powers combined ...

Song ID -- Help identify / find this Gil Scott-Heron song

Trying to help a friend trying to find a Gil Scott-Heron song. We are not sure of the name of the song -- I suspect it is a song that had been on the original vinyl album, but did not make the transition to CD.

Any old-school vinyl-loving Gil fans able to help find this song?

If memory serves, it contains the lyric: Gotta move on
Gotta see tomorrow
Gotta move on
Gotta get ahead.

many thanks in advance for any help.

Help identify this song!

I'm trying to identify a song that I heard recently in a bar. A short clip of the song can be found here.

Bonus question: what style of dance fits this song? I saw some couples doing something that looked similar to a waltz, but in 4/4 time. Any ideas what they were doing?

What song did I hear on Ellen's Bigger Longer Wider show?

Help me ID this song that played during Ellen DeGeneres' Bigger Longer Wider show on TBS. On TBS tonight they ran the show. During the show there's a guy who comes out and balances on a bunch of cans. What song is playing during this act? I tried my cell phone's song ID but it "wasn't available" and Midomi isn't getting it from my humming. The only lyrics I could pick out seem to say "all right, all right, I, I bring you fire" but searching those lyrics doesn't bring up the right song, so they're probably wrong. I think it's a fairly popular song as I've heard it several times before.

What song do the chorus' lyrics/melody of New Villager's "Rich Doors" bear a striking similarity to? (Link to listen inside.) I've depleted my Google-fu trying to discover the answer, but I swear that portion of the song is from somewhere... Or at least, very, very similar. I have very general guesses on era/etc but don't want to throw anyone off the trail.
Obscure early-90s-late-80s hip hop song identification: "flyfolds wiggle"?

Obscure early-90s-late-80s hip hop song identification: I used to hear this song on the radio back in the day, and the only part of it I can remember is a line that goes "Joey's in the back / He makes the fly folds wiggle." Anyone? They might've been a local (Dallas or just Texas) band, but I have the recollection it was three or four white guys going back and forth on the song.

Can anyone ID a song with little to know useful information?

I know, this is a long shot, but can anyone help me identify this song from Adventures in Babysitting with very few useful details? I watched about 20 minutes of the movie Adventures in Babysitting when it was on cable the other night. I used to be familiar with the plot, etc., but let's just say it's been awhile. Maybe an hour or so into the cable version of the movie, a song plays while Elizabeth Shue and her charges are, I think, picking up a car from a mechanic? This was after they were running around/being chased off the el by some people it seems they owe money to. It seems like she has a crush on the guy, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, I am dying to know what the name of the song is - I heard it in another movie preview recently (which I also don't know the name of). From what I can tell, it's instrumental (although words may come in at some later point) and kind of electronic-y and in a minor key. I've searched every permutation of Adventures in Babysitting and instrumental song I can think of and have checked the official soundtrack to no avail. So, metafilter, I turn to you. Can anyone identify this song with almost nothing to go on?

swedish guitarline deja-entendu

What other song does this golden guitar-line from the new Jens Lekman album remind me of? Ignore the harp, strings and drums!

I am going CRAZY every time I hear this repeating guitar-line, as it reminds me very strongly of a similar guitar-line from a song I can't put my finger on. A late-90s radio hit? Something from the 80s, even? For a sec I thought maybe it was The Cure but I don't think that's the case.

(If you think you've figured it out, bonus point if you can point me to a recording/sample of the given song for confirmation.)

ID This song? Sample from Airplane

Song ID: "Surely you can't be serious" sample There's a song I used to hear on the local modern rock station (Live 105, San Francisco) about 15 or so years ago that I've tried and tried to ID. All I can remember is the beginning where they used a sample from "Airplane!" with the lines:
"Surely you can't be serious"
"Surely you can't be serious"
"I am serious. And stop calling me Shirley"

Then it went straight into the song... Any help? Thanks!
