I was in Mexico City and went to Lipstick, a cute loungy gay bar and they played this song that I cannot for the life of me find. It had a female singer, and was a kinda dance/pop/gay song, thought dont remember if it was in english or not, but the chorus was this catchy whistling tune that everyone in the bar knew as they imitated the whistling in a funny/cute/innocent way. Anyone know what Im talking about?

My close friends are about to finalize their adoption of a baby from Saratov, Russia. The baby has spent some time in an orphanage in Saratov, and I think a nice gift for him would be a CD of songs that might have been sung to him during his infancy. Can anyone recommend a good source for Russian children's music?

Name that tune!! It was used in commercials to advertise the HBO film "Empire Falls", and now to advertise a new show coming in the fall - E-Ring maybe? Anyway - it's kind of pop-rock sounding, male vocal. Lyrics: Something like - even when you cannot hear me ... I'll be right beside you dear.

I am looking for songs with a psychiatric illness theme. 2 songs come immediately to mind, both by Simon and Garfunkel. One is
Richard Cory dealing with a suicide by a probable manic-depressive .The other is
A Most Peculiar Man which describes the suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning of a schizophrenic patient. i know it is rather morbid but I would appreciate hearing of other songs of the same ilk.

Needed: "Romantic songs of the 1930s/40s/50s that are very easy to play on guitar". My brother has asked me to sing "something" at his mostly secular wedding on August 13. No piano available, *maybe* a guitar player of unknown skill level. He seems to want something romantic and 1930s-50s American pop. He's mentioned "It's Only a Paper Moon" with enthusiasm, but I'm not sure that would be easy enough to play on guitar.

Hip Hop song identification needed. Help me identify a hip hop song from the movie Be Cool. When Vince Vaughn is riding in the back of his car, and The Rock is driving, there is a hip hop song playing. The only lyrics you can hear are "walla walla walla bang bang. walla walla bang bang". Who is that? Hint: It's not that Witch Doctor song for kids, in case you were gonna be funny ;)
ps: It's about 46:30 into the movie if you happen to have it on DVD.

I'd like your help in compiling a workout mix-cd of the most Awesome Cheesily Inspirational songs from movie training sequences. Think "Eye of the Tiger"... or even better, "Hearts on Fire" from the Rocky IV training sequence. And quite possibly the apex: Joe Esposito's "You're the Best" from the Karate Kid. (YOU'RE THE BEST! AROOOUND!) Stuff where you can't help but start going, "Yeah! I'm going to totally train in this montage to kick that guy's ass!" Doesn't even have to be from a training montage, just have that 'feel.'

After recently having seen The Life Aquatic, I noticed that the soundtrack missed a song from one of the key scenes in the movie. This is not the first time I have come across this phenomenon and I wondered if anyone knew whether it was a legal issue with copyright or something as mundane as CD capacity. After all, if an artist/label allows their song to feature in a movie, why not on the soundtrack too?

GilbertoFilter? I am trying to learn the name of a specific song by Astrud Gilberto. The now-defunct Bossanova FM internet radio station used to play it. The song's catchy and upbeat (I can hum the tune, but of course don't know any of the words . .) and the main theme/message is that a woman always has to work. It isn't on the 'Finest Hour' collection, and it appears to not be referenced anywhere online . . . Might anyone know this song or at least have a good guess at it?

Matt's thread about God Bless America reminded me: When I was a kid and Kate Smith had a hit record of God Bless America, there was talk that she had a follow-up song that was never released called God Is An American. I have never been able to track it down, but it might be suitable for today if the recording exists. Has anyone ever heard of it? Or failing that can someone write one quick and get it online?

Song name! I can't remember practically anything about a song except that it was sung by a woman, say alto range, and contains the words "sing a lovely song" sung such that "sing" was held for longer than any other syllable in that phrase and "love" was sharply higher than any other note in the phrase, and I think held for less time than "a", "ly" and "song", "song" being held but not for as long as "sing". I realize that's not much to go on, but maybe someone has an idea? Also, I might be wrong about it being sung by a woman, and possibly everything else.

SongLyricFilter : I heard a song on a local semi-indie radio show, and would like to know who it was. I remember precious few details, however. Sparse arrangement, just a singer and a guitar at first. I remember the phrase "space and time" coming up a lot, and something like "I could write a long letter."
Sorry to be so vague. Any ideas?
