One man, one guitar, one microphone.

My 9th grade son has taught himself guitar and he's thinking about entering the school talent show. He's trying to pick a good song that he can play and sing, and I'd like to help him out. What's a good song for one young man and an acoustic guitar and a high school audience? [more inside]

Cannot remember this song to save my lfie....

Okay, I heard a song a few months ago. It sounds like a really epic Cheap Trick song. The lyrics are pretty sexually explicit (not a lot of dirty words, but highly erotic) and the singer sounds a bit like Edwyn Collins. [more inside]

Music Suggestions for TV Promo?

I am working on a series of promos for a national cable network and looking for some suggestions regarding music. They love the song from the Michael Mann's Miami Vice trailer: Numb/Encore by Linkin Park and Jay-Z. I'm looking for instrumental tracks with that feeling: serious, inspiring, melancholy, uplifting, energetic, modern, slick, etc. The promos involve beautiful slow-motion visuals with voiceover underneath. Thought I would turn to my favorite hive mind. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Who wrote this song?

My mother used to sing a song to me as a child: "It's a rainy day / and we have to stay inside. / The rain is falling down / and we can't go out to play. / Why does it have to rain / anyway?" She swears it's from Sesame Street, but Google seems never to have heard of it. Who composed this song? Where could she have heard it from? Is it indeed Sesame Street?

Help Identify Radio Song - maybe Susan Aglukark?

I'd be really thrilled if someone could tell me what song this is. It used to be popular(ish) on the radio in central Canada in the mid-90's and I *think* that the artist is Susan Aglukark (http://www.susanaglukark.com/) but I could be off on that. There are no words in the song that I can remember and it's really hard to google search on a melody. I've tried to create a picture of the notes (to the best of my ability) and I've also created a small mp3 file the overall melody (see tinyurl link - hopefully the ding-dong computer sound doesn't annoy you too much) I'd really appreciate your help with this - I've been singing this tune to people for years to try and figure out what song it is. Looking for a song with "they always will" repeated at the end.

I'm trying to find a song where, at least near the end, "they always will" was repeated often (at the end of every other line, I think). I've heard it a few times but have never been able to catch more of the lyrics, which seem somewhat indistinct. It's an upbeat rock song, perhaps leaning a bit towards pop, male singer. It sounds like it could be from the 80s. [more inside]

La cosa nostra

HelpMeFindThisSongFilter: while in Italy I heard an Italian song that was a bit rap-ish, in the sense that the performers were more or less talking to the music. The only part of the lyrics I could discern was "La cosa nostra, la cosa nostra, la cosa nostra". I asked the lady behind the bar what it was and she couldn't tell me, but vaguely seemed to remember it was by & . Something like Paolo and Frederico, although most likely not those names. Help?
