Is it still possible to buy Photoshop 7.0 legitimately? I want to support Adobe, but hearing about lots of "software activation" nightmares has made me loathe to buy version CS. Froogle and Amazon.com just give me what look like illegal "OEM" versions of PS7.

Private (closed-group) filesharing software? I'm thinking for 5-10 users, and it would be nice if it didn't require a dedicated machine -- just enter a list of our 10 IPs and it'll connect to whoever happens to be on. Encryption wouldn't hurt either.

I'm looking for some (free) software that will let me set up a "document dropbox" on my web server. Basically I want to upload files and then have them be available -- through a nice-looking interface -- to users of my choosing. Searching Google and Sourceforge hasn't found me anything useful yet, although bytehoard is about 25% of the way there.

My 48x CD-R drive is *really loud*. Is there any way to slow it down for basic tasks like audio CD playback? Googling finds me some brand-specific "control panel" apps, but this is a no-name model. Is there a generic utility out there?
