I'm preparing a provisional patent application specification for a computer software containing multiple classes. One function includes a maze solver. There are many maze solving algorithms available online, and in fact the one I used in the software was also taken from the Internet. [more inside]
I'd like to find a program that would play some pre-recorded or pre-programmed drum beats in various styles at user-defined tempos to practice playing music with. Something online would be OK but I'd prefer a freestanding Windows OS program. I don't want to have to use a sequencer to create my own beats. I'd just like to be able to pick a style and a tempo and let it go. Basically a more-interesting metronome. [more inside]
I'm looking for a back-up program or script that can be run without needing admin rights (to install, even). I have taken the unofficial duty of backing up work files for my workgroup, and I'm looking for something smarter than copying everything once a month. More details inside. [more inside]
I cannot seem to find a good app that will let me: 1) have recurring tasks 2) allow me to check them off as done (like disappear or strike or some other indicator) 3) presented in calendar form (not a "reminders" list). I don't ask for much. I have checked out many many free apps, none of which accomplish what I want. I'm sure this gem is a paid app and I will gladly fork over based on a suggestion, knowing my criteria. I have yet to find one that has all three of these requirements spelled out. Thanks!
How can I simply print an envelope or two from my Mac to any printer that can handle envelopes? I'm printing directly on the envelope, but it's a standard #10 envelope--no labels, no odd sizes. I'd like USPS barcodes. I've got a copy of EasyEnvelopes and I've been trying to print from it, but nothing happens on my printer and I can't update it because they charge for it now. Printing other docs works fine. [more inside]
Ever come across a scene in a movie and thought that the website or program or interactive "platform" was really cool? First thing that comes to mind of course is that really cool Minority Report scene or this Mission: Impossible software... It doesn't have to be too far into the future, it could be modern.. Could be the graphics that caught your eye, could be the simplicity, could be anything at all..

Does this exist? I want a 3D simulation program where I can experiment with gears (including bevel gears), slots and slides, eccentric cranks, levers, maybe even chain drives and belts and pulleys. Ideally I'd be able to change sizes, numbers/shapes of teeth, location of the drive shaft, etc. to see how those changes affect the motion of the gadget. [more inside]

What are things like these days in the p2p universe? I've been using BitTorrent exclusively for a while but friends and family have asked for my help with p2p but BitTorrent is overkill for the small files (songs, ringtones, etc) they're looking for. Also, BitTorrent has no search facilities which they'll need. What programs are out there? How spyware-ridden are they? How corrupted with bogus files? And, are there any sites you'd recommend to keep up-to-date with p2p?
