I have trouble remembering to pay bills/bring stamps/find envelopes in a timely manner. But I don't like having my account auto-drafted. Is there anything do-it-yourself style that will send me an e-mail and I can click a button to approve a transaction to pay an amount specified by me to the company that needs paying (or something like that)?

What free or cheap software, or webapps, can I recommend to help my friend manage and build her small business, a salon? Although there is software out there specifically made for this purpose, it seems out of her price range and shares a lot in common with more general software.

I get to take an inventory of my work's comic library. Fun, yes - but also... Yikes. There has to be a better way to track our comics than this clunky excel spreadsheet. And I'm no wiz at filemaker. Is there a free/cheap software that can help?

I'm not too stoked on apple's stock widget because it always seems to be unable to retrieve the data I request. I'm looking for shareware/freeware or Matlab .m files that will do Target Factor Analysis or Evolving Factor Analysis or some other chemometric technique that will allow me to analyze some titration data. The first few spectra are of a pure component and the later spectra are a mixture of components that I don't basis spectra for.

File Management Filter - I'm looking for a piece of software (Windows XP / preferably free), that will:
1 - Create directories on a daily or weekly basis (i.e. 2211, 2311, 2411) to store downloaded files, and/or: 2 - Move the 'oldest' set of files to a subdirectory - or CD/DVD archive
Any ideas?

Now I'm looking for games I can download. Freeware and shareware, preferably, as opposed to warez (although if you care to recommend a NES/SNES/etc. emulator ...). In particular, is there a decent FPS I can download for this machine?

Multi-page tiffs: I'm currently working on a project which involves scanning letters from microfilm onto a laptop. We save letters with more than one page as multi-page tiffs for logistics reasons. What I'm wondering is if there is a way to edit the individual pages after the fact (cropping, brightness, contrast etc. basic stuff)? Preferably free/inexpensive software.
