Where to find decent solid color men's socks? [more inside]
Where do you find everyday, lightweight women's (or kids') socks that will fit a women's size 5 foot? [more inside]
I'm looking for plain white wool (or mostly wool) socks that don't have any logos on them. I would like them to hit at the ankle or below, so you can see only a little or none of the socks while I'm wearing sneakers. [more inside]
I'd like to replace the rampant chaos that is my sock drawer with a dozen matching pairs of plain black merino wool socks. I like the weight, fit, and price of the Kirkland (Costco) women's trail socks, but they come in packs of four with different designs. Can you suggest an alternative? [more inside]
I need footwear for the out-of-doors across that's appropriate for at least three seasons, if not four. While my feet are snowflakes, I don't think I have to worry about stepping in snow … do I? What about rainy puddles or streams? [more inside]
Over the years my 6'5" dad has put on quite a bit of weight. Regular socks made for size 12-15 shoed feet are too tight around his calves and tops of his feet. Any recommendations you might have for both athletic socks and dress socks would be most appreciated.
I'm a guy who's relatively clueless about women's footwear and I'm trying to get some nice warm socks as a Christmas present. Further requirements within. [more inside]
My almost-four-year-old has a very hard time with socks. I'm looking for seamless socks that also don't have the "bump" of a seam next to the big toe and pinky toe, since that's the part that bothers her the most. [more inside]
What is currently the best value in durable, comfortable, heavyweight, wool-blend hiking socks? [more inside]
I have an awesome pair of socks which are factory seconds. The brand name has been covered up with iron-on tape, but you can see the first and last letters: R.........D. The full name is 6-8 letters long. They are thick knee-high winter socks, and I'd love to get more of them.
I have a couple pairs of stockings with unusual patterns and I always feel dressed up and fancy when I wear them, so I want more! [more inside]
I've traditionally bought packs of the cheapest tube socks available. Walking a lot over the last several years has worn them out very quickly. So, I think I want better socks, but I do not want super high-quality artisanal tactical sox or what have you. I do not want to improve the quality of my life via sock purchasing. I just want to bump up to a level at which miles of use per dollar are maximized. If that means buying five $50 pairs of socks that will last 60 years, I'll do it. But I'm guessing the optimal point is somewhere cheaper.
Has anyone had a pair of socks that were downright therapeutically cozy? Possibly engineered to be worn without shoes, exclusively for cozy time? I've got a friend who's getting out of foot surgery next month, and I'd like to send her socks that surround her feet in luxuriousness. I'm open to other little mailable foot comfort products too.
What are some good, comfortable men's black socks that come in packs? White socks also needed! [more inside]
I'm a woman, and I'm looking for socks to wear to work with dress shoes when it's too cold to go sockless. I need thin socks, similar weight to tights, but crew/ankle height. [more inside]
My favorite line of socks has been discontinued and I would like to see what my options are for a replacement. Basically, I like solid black boot socks with plenty of cushioning. [more inside]
I have some nice thick comfy everyday socks. Where can I get more like them? [more inside]
How do I keep my feet dry and warm throughout the day in the winter? I am typically traveling by subways and city buses in suburban Toronto and I go in and out of heated spaces for work. Thin socks won't cut; thick socks are sweated through by lunch. [more inside]
Wife's b-day is coming up and has asked that I find her some plus size solid color crew socks. She wears a size 11 or 12 shoe. I never thought it would be this hard to find cute plus-size socks for her. Most are just black or white--boring. Or crazy patterns--not her style. Or $15 per pair--too expensive. Sheesh, does no one make a 6 pack or 8 pack of solid-colored cotton or cotton/poly plus size socks, like pink, blue, pastels, etc.? My google-fu is failing. Can you help?
I want to buy my boyfriend 50 pairs of socks for his annual holiday gift. What are the best everyday-wear black socks that I can purchase? [more inside]
My wife wants to learn to knit. What do I buy? [more inside]
I have tried the Gap, Old Navy, and Target, and all those socks seem to lose their elastic around the ankle after only a few months and/or shrink. [more inside]
A lot of my socks (plain black, mid-rise/crew, breathable) are getting thin or holey. I looked at previous women's socks questions on AskMe, and they recommended brands that don't ship to Canada (Uniqlo, Gold Toe, Smartwool, etc.) and can't be found in my city (Ottawa). What are the best women's appropriate-for-office-work socks I can get in Canada? [more inside]
A portmanteau for this man's poor toes:
Are Keen Newports good shoes for a long trip to Disney World in August? If not, what beats them? I mean, can I simply wear my running shoes?
Do you try on footwear like this with or without socks?

I prefer to own only one type of sock, because it expedites the laundry, and when one wears out you haven't lost the pair. Sadly, my favorite socks appear to have been discontinued. Help me find a replacement! [more inside]
Askmefites always recommend socks. The best gift for dad, the best thing to spend money on, the best things to put on your feet, etc. Sometimes they recommend brands, sometimes they recommend uses of the socks. Usually, they just say "buy good socks". This is basically a question asking for more details. [more inside]
Help me find replacement for these no-show Smartwool socks [more inside]
A plea for socks for a fussy, fussy, fussy man. [more inside]
My six month old son has lots and lots of baby socks. Almost all of them fall off easily and are a pain in the butt EXCEPT one very special pair. The problem is that I have no idea where this particular pair came from so I haven't been able to buy more. Please tell me where they came from so I can stock up! [more inside]
Second sock question in under an hour! This one is about ladies' socks though. [more inside]
I'm looking for good quality men's dress socks. I want socks that are mid-calf and either solid brown or solid black. SmartWool's nice, but they are quite expensive and I also find their wide range of options baffling, so I'd like something cheaper and simpler. Would prefer someplace I can order from online (I'm in the U.S.). Thanks!
I probably have Raynauds although I've never gone to a doctor to verify. I wear Merino wool socks because they seem to work best to help keep my feet warm (even though they are never really totally warm). However, my feet, even though still a bit cool, tend to sweat in wool and thus, I get athlete's foot (and I even wear mesh sneakers for better air circulation). Any advice on keeping my feet warm yet dry? Does something wick better than wool yet insulate as good or better? Or any other ideas?
Feet and hands constantly icy but it's my feet that really annoy me. I have read this thread and several others, which gave me some great ideas, but wanting to see if there is any additional ideas for me. Male, 6 foot, 160 lbs, mid 50s in age. No history of diabetes in family ever. Yes, I may have Raynauds, but not sure what to do about it other than try and find ways to keep my feet and hands warm. [more inside]
Point me to your favorite winter socks. Because it's cold here. Really, really cold, and every single pair of socks I own has holes. All of them. [more inside]
Continuing secret Santa filter: I'd like to buy socks in team colors for my secret Santa: Orioles, Ravens and the Maryland Terrapins. I know that she likes knee-high styles, as I've seen her wear them before. Aside from just searching for that on Amazon I'm not sure what to look for in terms of quality and comfort. Altogether I'd like to spend around $30 for all three. Physical retail locations would also be appreciated.
I have several different pairs of boots - ankle, cowboy, calf-length - and I have the same problem with each. How do I find socks that don't slide down and get scrunched under my heels within a dozen steps? [more inside]

I'm teaching a summer course for 6-8 year olds on puppetry, and we are making sock puppets. I'm wanting to find affordable, bright socks that are suitable for the task -- stuff I can order on Amazon prime is better. Any recommendations (especially ones that can arrive by the middle of next week) are appreciated!

Help me find colorful, patterned socks and boxer briefs for my large-bootied, big-footed boyfriend! [more inside]
I had a brilliant idea the other day: instead of buying all sorts of different socks and cursing the gods when I lose one of a matching pair, I should buy bunches of matching socks in the same color so that any two go with each other. Help me enact this plan by finding socks that meet my criteria. Snowflake details inside. [more inside]
I was thinking about Steve Jobs buying a closet full of black turtlenecks so he didn't have to make that decision every day. I also saw some recent charts that showed purchasing trends for different age groups, and noted that once people buy good flatware they don't make an additional purchase. It occurred to me that, at my age (mid-forties) I could conceivably purchase a lifetime supply of socks. What are items that a person of average means could purchase in sufficient quantities to last them the rest of their life? [more inside]
Where can I find cute, fun plus-sized socks and tights on-line? [more inside]
Where can I purchase more socks like these? Acquired by my husband over 10 years ago at an airport in the Netherlands, they are long-lasting, comfortable, made of wool, have the word "TRAIL" embroidered in red across the instep, three horizontal red stripes on the ball of the foot, and what may be a size "3-46" in red across the toe.
