You-Are-Not-My-Sleep-Medicine-Specialist-filter: how can I best control my snoring, both in the short- and long-term? What was previously a "cute" little rasp has evolved into a cacophony that necessitates separate bedrooms, and we are desperate. More under the fold. [more inside]
This morning I woke up to a (very polite) note on my apartment door from a neighbor about my snoring. Not quite sure what action is appropriate to try and remedy the situation, or if it's my problem at all. [more inside]
My husband snores loudly (85db peaks). I'm a light sleeper, and have general anxiety and PTSD issues that are exacerbated by lack of sleep. I can't sacrifice my mental health to the snoring! I'm perfectly happy sleeping in another room, and this was part of the deal when we got married. Now he's really upset about it. I don't need solutions for the snoring, just for the anger and upset it's causing in our home. [more inside]
Where can I get a PSU unit for a ResMed CPAP in a hurry in Edinburgh? The sole UKsupplier is in London and now shut until the New Year, and there's no post anyway. Nobody seems to be answering the phones at my London clinic or the Edinburgh equivalents. PSU is custom and has non-srandard connectors: hacking an alternative seems a non-srarter. [more inside]
I am potentially going to be dating a friend of mine... one thing that has me apprehensive is that I know she is a pretty light sleeper, and while I'm not the worst snorer around, I do snore. I am in ok shape (definitely not overweight), and am not really sure that there is anything that can be "done" about it, but I was wondering if there is anything that actually helps with it? I suppose she could get ear plugs, but she says that it's hard for her to sleep with them. Are there super fancy custom ear plugs that don't feel as invasive? It would be very frustrating if, of all things, this was a source of tension...
It's like sleep apnea, but through my nose. What's going on? [more inside]
My husband snores incredibly loudly. It makes sleeping next to him very difficult. Are there any unconventional recommendations - i.e. beyond drugstore earplugs and a white noise machine - to tolerate it? This is starting to really fray our marriage. [more inside]

I snore. Loudly. Living alone I don't think about it much, but while visiting home my brother is stuck using earplugs to dim the noise through walls. What can I do to limit this? Looking for updates on a similar question asked a few years back. [more inside]

Can something non-traumatic end up as PTSD-related trauma? I already have a diagnosis, I'm just very confused about something that's been happening lately. New therapist doesn't start until next month, so no luck there - and I'm somewhat nervous about bringing this up, because it seems so STUPID. [more inside]

I'll be going to the hospital for a CPAP fitting tomorrow night, which is a follow-up to a sleep study I had a few months ago. I've been reluctant to schedule the follow-up because in the previous sleep study I barely slept at all. I'd really prefer not to repeat that... [more inside]
SnoreFilter: Apparently, I have a giant uvula. One that's flopping around in my throat at night and keeping my girlfriend up with its monsterous noise. At least, that's what the ENT doctor said. She recommended Radiosurgery to either shave the uvula down or remove it completely and make more space in my throat. Has anyone heard of/had this procedure done?
Sleep Apnea... some, ooh, let's say about 5% of the population has it. I'm starting to think I might, too: not feeling rested in the morning, snoring at night, breathing stops irregularly, etcetera. Anyone got personal experiences, stories, or advice to offer? I'm not running to the doctor yet... unless y'all scare me into it! [more inside]
