I recently bought a gorgeous new brown suede blazer in Sweden. It fits perfectly and it is my new favourite jacket apart from one thing - it reeks of suede/leather. Not just a subtle odour, but a full on beefy smell that smacks you in the face. Even to the point where other people comment on it. Nothing else I have ever owned has done this, is there anything I can do to rescue it? Even Febreze has been outclassed!

Anyone know how can I make my travel coffee mug not stink of old coffee?
I have a fancy, semi-new travel mug made of some almost indestructible hard plastic. It's great, except for the surprisingly strong stink of old coffee and cream, which seems to have permeated it permanently. This is particularly a problem with the soft plastic seal around the lid.

What are you supposed to do if you have to burp? Say you are at a pub sitting at a table with some people drinking a pint and the beer makes you need to burp regularly. I've done the ol' burp with the mouth closed and let it out through the nose, but I thought I'd ask MeFi.

I bought some nice down pillows for myself, and they smell really weird! I have tried to Febreze 'em, and I ran them through the wash according to the care instructions, but they still emit the odour. Has anyone else ever had such a problem that could offer some advice to me?

I bought a new suitcase recently, and when I got it home discovered that the interior (which is lined in some sort of plastic or vinyl) has a very strong plastic-y/chemical smell. I've tried leaving it open to air out, I've tried putting some dryer sheets inside and closing it, but nothing has helped abate the stank. I'm going on a trip on Thursday and don't want my clothes to reek of chemicals! Any ideas?

I live on the second floor of an old turn of the century mansion and the first floor party-hardy dwellers are serious chain smokers. Their noxious, secondhand smoke is so pervasive (they entertain smoker friends by the droves) that it seeps through my hardwood floors and walls and stinks up my apartment something awful. Sometimes it seems like I'm living above a nightclub it is so bad.
