How to project cash flow months out if paid up front for a year?

xps vs. optiplex

Any major difference between optiplex and xps? I'm getting quotes 3 basic machines, 2 power user machines and 1 power user laptop for a small non-profit. They gave me the first quotes and they ran pretty basic configurations, intel duo processors, all optiplexes... i went to the small business website and mades some amazing computers, XPS's with much better specs, and around the same price points (i5 or i7 processors). The dell rep just emailed me and said that xps's are gaming machines, not really for business... any thoughts? [more inside]

Anyone in Seattle want to make their own pajama pants?

Now that I'm freshly unemployed, I'm thinking about teaching sewing lessons out of my apartment. I'm in Seattle, and my target demographic would likely be young adults on the hipster spectrum, like myself, and perhaps kids 8 and above. Bonus item 3. what would you want your lessons to be like if you were my student? [more inside]

What finance software should we be using for personal and business finances?

Sick of using a home-cobbled spreadsheet for personal finance, and wanting something simple and envelope-based, I was about to pick up YNAB. However, we'll be starting up a small limited liability business pretty soon. Should I use something more complex, such as Quicken, to track all personal and business finances? Or should I track things separately, with different software? At what point, if any, should we consider getting an accountant?
