We are building a video display wall for our new office and I need to figure out the best way to do it, with out spending too much. The output source are 22 LCD displays, there are 6 of them all showing different slide shows. DVD? PC? Any help would be appreciated. More details of what has been tried are inside. [more inside]

Is it possible to disable the Windows XP slideshow folder view, or at least set it to not be default? I want to do this without disabling custom folder views; I know I can set all folders to display a certain way (I like tiles), but I'd like to be able to give some folders their own custom view settings (i.e. I like showing my mp3 folder as detail view with custom columns)

We have put up a large screen in a public area of our business. We would like to be able to have it rotating through some images, and also put other announcements about workshops, seminars that appear every X minutes. Is there a cheap/free software that will run a slideshow and then every 20th slide put up a text slide. We would rather not have to create a new slideshow everytime the announcements change - just put those in a text file or similar.

Lobby slideshow, compose on Mac, run on Windows? One of my tasks where I work is to create slideshows that runs 24/7 on a large plasma screen in our lobby, which has a windows box attached to it. Previously, I did it in a Windows program called ProShow Gold. The slideshow could be saved as an executable, dumped in the startup menu, put on a loop, and I had the machine automated to shutdown at night and start back up in the morning. My issue now is that I'm getting a mac for my computer at work. The lobby slideshow will still be run on the windows box. I know how to do create slideshows in iPhoto on the Mac (and would prefer to do so), but however I create these things, they will still have to be run on this Windows Box. Can I generate something on the Mac that will work like the slideshows I generated in ProShow (that I can just put in the startup menu of the Windows box, and that will automatically start when the machine boots up everyday and run fullscreen all day on a loop)?

i photographed a high school girls' sports team all season. putting together a slideshow DVD of the best images for the girls to have. what music should accompany the slideshow? i want the girls to like the music but i have a feeling my musical taste (mostly indie rock/folk/singer-songwriter stuff) wont be a hit with them. i'm a bit of a music snob so any suggestions that would please the girls but also allow me to keep my musical integrity intact would be greatly appreciated. I am a total html novice. I have ten pages, "page1.html" through "page10.html" that I have already created. I want to have a link ("slide show!") on my home page "index.html" that, once clicked, creates a slide show of "page1" through "10", showing each page for 5 seconds until finished (never showing any page more than once.) I also want the order of the pages to be random (ie showing the slide show in a different order each time the link on "index" is clicked.) Is this possible? If so how in the heck can I do it!?!?

Windows Slide Show Viewer in Dual Monitor Mode. I need to run a full-screen slideshow of some jpgs in a folder from a peripheral monitor, while doing other stuff on my laptop screen. Windows XP slideshow viewer (the one that comes up when viewing a folder with pictures in it) is perfect, but every time I try to run it from the monitor, the slideshow actually takes place on the LCD screen. How the hell do I get the show to run on the monitor?

WeddingKitschFilter: I have to produce my best friend's rehearsal dinner slideshow montage (baby pictures, soundtrack, awww factor, etc), but I'm not sure what the best software tool is to create it. I'm competent in final cut, flash, powerpoint, hell, even MS movie, but I'm thinking these might be overkill. Does anyone know of a software tool that might be, perhaps, geared specifically for something like this? Or perhaps have any experience you'd like to share using the aforementioned tools in such a setting? Besides the "want to make friend happy" aspect, this might end up turning into a portfolio piece for an upcoming business venture, so I'm hoping not to approach it as a one-off hack job.
