After the OSX 10.8.2 update several days ago, my laptop freezes on wake from hibernate (at least, it only does it when it has been asleep for a while). I posted on the Apple support forums
here, but no one has responded. There are excerpts from my system log there.
Things I've tried: fixing permissions, SMC reset, turning off my gmail calendar updates (I saw a lot of errors in the log having to do with that) but no luck. Any ideas?

I'd like to use a 2007 Macbook Pro + 2TB FW ext HD as a NAS setup, but the drive keeps falling asleep and slowing and causing video to hiccup. How can I prevent this and get smooth movie playback?

Is there any Mac software that can naggingly "encourage" me to fall asleep earlier?

Why does my MacBook occasionally restart when I close the lid to have it go to sleep? This MacBook is only a couple months old (the latest MacBook revision) running 10.4.10. It's very sporadic. I will close the machine, then, after a few seconds, I hear the Mac startup chime. Here, though, it pauses the startup routine. Then I open the lid and it finishes booting. Any thoughts?

Two-part question about waking up: I'm looking for something that functions like the
iPod alarm clock (but without having to own an iPod) or better yet, this
"peaceful progression wake-up clock." The catch is I'm kind of a cheapskate, and have no idea whether an expensive alarm clock will really help me wake up earlier & more easily. (Secondly, any good advice on how to drag myself out of bed in the morning is more than welcome, too!)
