I'm about to video Skype for the first time, using my macbook pro's built-in isight camera.
The person I'm Skyping with has never met me, but has a whacky sense of humor, so I thought it might be amusing to start out by feeding in a few seconds of stock video of a hunky male stripper (cutting it off, and replacing it with my geeky real self, long before it gets lewd). Is there any way to do this?

We live in South America and our son is in need of a native English speaker to work with him on pronunciation. There is no one here who can help, but as luck would have it, we have a relative in the states who is a licensed speech therapist who can help over Skype. We're looking for camera and speaker suggestions for both sides - assuming we have solved the bandwidth issue, is there a camera for a PC that would be ideal for this? Are there other speech professionals who have done this before?

How do I search the contents of all Skype chat history on OS X? Skype's regular search feature only searches the topics of old chats, but not the contents. I swear I found a way to do this some time back that involved typing some undocumented commands to create an index and then search it, but Google is failing me. I do have Skype's feature to keep chat history forever turned on.

Another ditch-the-cell-phone-bill/Google Voice question: Google Voice made me give them my cell phone number (800-OLD-CELL) when I signed up, and then assigned me a new number (800-GGL-VOIC). However, I don't have calls forwarded from the Google Voice number to my actual cell phone - Instead, everything goes to voicemail. What happens if I cancel my old cell phone number?

Starting in about a month, my wife and I will both be working from home a fair amount. We are both on the phone a lot.
We want to pay as little as possible and are trying to figure out how to deal with the phone situation. I currently use Google Voice and make and receive most of my calls on the home phone, which works well for me.
I'm not sure how to deal with the apparent need for 2 phones. Both of us have cell-phones, but we're on the phone so much that we'd rather not be on the cell phones all day. We could obviously just get a 2nd Google Voice number for incoming calls, but I'm not sure how to deal with receiving or making calls while the other person is on the home phone.
Thoughts? Should we get a Skype or Vonage number? Just get a 2nd landline? Any good free/cheap options that I'm missing? We're in Portland, OR if that matters. Thanks!

We are trying to have lab meetings over video-conferencing and no matter how much preparation, we always seem to eat 30 minutes of time fiddling with the setup. We've tried various iChat/Skype/gchat combinations and nothing has really stuck so far. What I really want to do is have one computer on each end video conferencing and sharing a powerpoint presentation.

My boyfriend Skype-IMed his mother a very dirty greeting that was meant for me. It still shows the circling icon that I think happens when you try to send a user a message when the user does not have Skype running at the time. Is there any way to delete this before she gets it? He's freaking out, as you would too, if I told you what he just told his mother.

I've just upgraded a G5 tower from 10.2.x to 10.5.7. The upgrade went off without a hitch... but... i do have a problem using my Logitech USB 350 headset with the system now. When making a call with Skype, for example, the headset will typically work for a while (several minutes) before suddenly throwing out massive amounts of horrible noise via the mike channel. When this happens, I can hear the other side of the conversation just fine, they however can't hear anything except an aneurysm-inducing noise. If I hang-up and restart the connection, the game repeats. Sometime the noise sets in sooner, sometimes later - however, it always sets in. Facts: 1.)
This headset worked without a hitch before the upgrade (from 10.2.x). 2.) Audio settings on a system level and within Skype are correct. Does anyone have any clue as to what is going on and what might remedy the situation?
