I'm working on a project and I need to create a collage of landmarks (the idea being a sort of national or global skyline, if you will). Specifically, I need US-based landmarks, and then international landmarks. I'm looking for help coming up with any visually obvious landmarks I might have missed. [more inside]

I am interested in buying a telescope for someone who moved into a condo that has a great view of the Chicago skyline as well as an ocassional awesome view of the moon. The telescope would be used mainly for looking at other buildings as well as for viewing the surface of the moon when it is full and close. The thing is, I know absolutely nothing about telescopes. I've done some research via google and am at a loss. I also called a hobby shop but the sales person was extremely unhelpful. Could someone knowledgable about telescopes give me some advice about brand, kind, size etc.? [more inside]
