So a couple of friends are putting on a night called Skirt, and in the progressive / queer-positive spirit of the event, guys are being encouraged to come wearing one. I'd like to do it, and I'd like to make it look damn good. Skirt-wearers of MeFi, please help me.

I'd like to keep my button-down shirts tucked in to my suits better, but I mostly wear skirt suits. Traditional shirt garters clip onto your socks, so those won't do. Any ideas?

I enjoy wearing straight/pencil skirts with tights. If I walk more than a few steps though, the skirt fabric sort of gets caught on the tights (around my knees or quads), causing it to slowly creep up the front of my legs, and eventually bulge out at the crotch. Very...ungraceful. This seems to be true regardless of skirt length (above or below knee does the same), and regardless of skirt/tights fabric combinations. It doesn't happen if I go bare-legged. I've tried a variety of lengths of slips, and anti-static spray, but nothing has helped. What am I doing wrong?

I'm helping edit a dictionary, and I just got to the
skirt entry, which contains the definition "informal: women regarded as sexually desirable." Now, I'm in my fifties and I think of that sense as "before my time," but before I go and tell them to add "dated" I want to double-check with the hip young MeFi crowd: do you know anybody younger than Grandpa Simpson who talks about "chasing skirt"?
