Surgery for post-hemorrhoid skin tags?

Anyone had experience with surgery to remove post-hemorrhoid skin tags? I've had hemorrhoids off and on for years; I haven't been bothered by them too seriously for a few years now that I've gotten into the habit of a lot more fibre/water in my diet. However, after so many years of them they've left several flappy skin tabs/tags around my, er, poo-hole that are not only itchy, but can be rather tricky sometimes to keep clean (ahem), not to mention are kinda unsightly when it comes to intimate moments with my SO.

All this means that I'd like to find out how these skin tags can be removed. As it will be awhile till I can get a referal to see my gastroenterologist, I wanted to ask in the meantime if any MeFites have had similar surgery (or if any of our MeFiDoctors might know about the procedure). What are the options (laser, rubber bands, etc.)? What's the recovery like? Is it likely to be more or less painful than hemorrhoid surgery? Thanks in advance.

Best way to get rid of skin tags?

What's the best remedy for skin tags? I have a few skin tags, which are starting to increase in number as I get older. They run in my mother's side of the family, and I know they're harmless, but they bug the crap out of me, especially the ones on my neck. I know the "go see a doctor" response (which usually involves freezing), but is there any risk to the "tie it off" home remedy? How long would that take?
