If you press or rub on my skin firm enough to make white marks the white marks go away like normal when the blood comes back, but they reappear a few seconds later like ghost markings. They then fade over the next minute or two. Is there a name for this? [more inside]

Poison Ivy -- Ok, I'm on round 2 of dosepack, steriod creams, and combining N1 and N2 allergy inhibitors -- I'm doing the best modern medicine has to offer, and based on the raised ugly red whelps it appears to no avail. I'm covered from head to toe and unfortunately points in between. Now -- how about some some Hivemind brilliance on other methods to get this more under control. I'm game for about anything at this stage. And yeah, I know I shouldn't -- but I did -- so please, help me! (Thanks...)

Skin filter: I've got a bad uneven sun tan that hasn't faded enough from last year. How do I get rid of it? I'm going to start hitting the tanning beds soon (it is still very cold where I live) and wonder if there are any ways to accelerate the process. How long will this take?
Related question: I have a new-ish tattoo should I be okay just putting sun block on it or should I cover it with a towel so it won't burn?

I recently saw an article by some docs on Oprah that give recommendations about taking care of your skin at certain ages.
It says that in your forties and fifties most people need Renova or retinol.
I have mild rosacea and dry fair skin and am 48.
Do you think I should see a dermatologist to get a prescription or just use an over the counter product with retinol.
I do not want to waste my money on an over the counter product if my 48 year old skin would benefit by the prescription.
I have lines and dullish dry skin with a few age spots.

I seem to have a perpetual set of quite small, flesh-colored or slightly red, acne-like bumps on my forehead. These are not too obvious (though they show when I tilt my forehead in the light as imperfections in the skin), and don't look grotesque or anything. They are not pus-filled nor do they hurt when touched. How do I make them go away? Daily face-washing doesn't do much, and the one time I had a facial didn't really help either.

I've been looking for a way to help my girlfriend cover, or at least reduce the visibility of, a scar on her stomach. She is quite self-conscious about it, especially when we make love.
I've searched up and read many discussions of similar topics
here on AskMeFi, but most of the suggestions seem to assume that the scar is recent. My girlfriend's scar dates from 2002. We know that surgery will eventually be necessary, but for various reasons it isn't practical at this time. What techniques have MeFites found successful when trying to cover or eradicate older scars?

My skin is terrible. It's not just the acne, though I do have that. It is mottled and dull. I have deep shadows under my eyes. Wrinkles are spreading under my eyes and from the corners of my nose to my mouth. I don't (and never have) smoked, nor lived around smokers. I drink at least 2 liters of water a day. I'm a female in my early 20s, and I've got the skin of a nicotine and alcohol addict in their forties. What am I doing wrong? More treatment details inside. [more inside]
