Is starting and stopping topical acne treatments a bad idea? I apply my Rx topical treatment more often than not, but it's sometimes inconvenient or I forget about it. Will I become resistant to the topical treatment in the same way that I would become resistant to an antibiotic if I use it on a start and stop basis?

After spending a lot of time in the sun, my hyperpigmentation from acne scars has gotten very bad. Do I need to go to a dermatologist, or is there still hope for it to fade on its own? [more inside]
