I am thinking of creating a blog that focuses on longform journalism about sports and I need a name. Any ideas?

So, I have a little Wordpress site on Media Temple for photos. Nothing else, just photos. No blog posts, no comments, etc. It's occurred to me that it's really a static site. And static sites can be hosted on Amazon S3.
I can handle building the site locally and moving it up to S3. But, I'm wondering about updates. It seems to me that if I build a site locally, publish it to S3, that I can do updates by synching S3 with my local file system. Right?
Has anyone done this? Are there apps specifically geared to publishing and maintaining sites on S3?

Probably a perennial question, but stuff changes. I'm looking for recommendations for a host for a non-pro photo site. I've used Fiickr, SmugMug, and ZenFolio. I'm after a host that allows me to muck about with design, CSS and HTML, etc., but doesn't compel mr to admin servers or
worry about installing security updates remotely.
I can admin a server, but, you know, life's too short. Shared host is probably the best bet, but I'd look at renting a slice of a managed server.
Basically, I just wanna build a site that looks like i want, upload photos, and be done with it.

Is there a way to capture a website at a certain point in time so that it's admissible in court? I may be about to be involved in litigation soon and there's information on a site which will be very important and I'd like to use it as evidence, but I'm worried it might move or change.

My website's stats app says that visitors stay for an average of five minutes and ten seconds. I know that this is pretty decent ... but does it put us in the 70% percentile? The 90% percentile? Is there anywhere you know of where I can go to find lots of comparative statistics for duration of visits to sites?

I've got a web site that shows up just fine for everyone except me. I get a big fat "page not found" when I navigate to it even though it works fine in proxy browsers, I've used ipconfig/flushdns and cleared my browser cache. I'm sure it's a DNS issue of some sort, but have no idea what else to do. Help?

Looking for community building tool to create a family website. I have family all across the US and would like to create a website where each family member could create their own profile, make posts, share photos. Like a MySpace or Facebook but something more private and to a degree less complex. Something that is just for invited users, something that is easy to use for non-technical users and something that I can host and administer. Open source solutions would be preferred. I have used wordpress, drupal, and joomla but each requires tweaking and modules, and lots of research to setup. Just wondering if there are any prepackages solutions or easier to use modules for WP, drupal, or joomla. Thanks.

I just found out our web site is being spoofed. The site is outdated (we've made major changes since this was copied) but they've gone so far as to create a similar logo with a similar name as our organization (and the URL is also similar). At first I thought I'd find evidence of credit card phishing when I clicked on the donate links, but surprisingly, they still go to our real donation page (outside vendor) or to a 404. The only thing I can really see that might be the benefit is some links on the homepage that link to outside sites (ad revenue? search rankings?) and possibly e-mail harvesting if anyone actually clicks on the mailto links. Also, some of the links on the homepage are just anchor links. Is that worth a spoofed site? Is there something else that might be going on? And most importantly, what can we do about it knowing that all the domain registration info for the site is bogus (aside from the person's name, all the contact info is our own).

Website admin question: I want to put up a website with about 10000+ charts. I don't mind people copying images, but how can I protect against a site sucker barging in, scooping them up, and killing my bandwidth? I wish I could generate a bunch of static HTML pages with simple IMG tags, but I'm guessing this isn't possible. What might PHP have to offer for protecting my content from site suckers?

Help, Help !! If anyone has experience with Dreamweaver and setting up the “Site Definition” settings; either basic or advanced mode for “Remote Info” I desperately need your advice and it would be very much appreciated. Runbox is my web host and I use “cPannel” to manage my web files. I can’t figure out what settings to use for “FTP access”. What would my “FTP host” be and what should I put in there this field? To be honest, I’m not quite sure what a FTP is although to use Dreamweaver’s functions, I need to set this up and have not been successful. Next question; Am I correct in saying the “Host Directory” would be in the “public_html” folder in cPannel that all my web page files are located? Any advice would be appreciated. I’ve tried multiple times and days to set this up, but I must be doing something wrong. Thank you in advance for your cooperation…Orlin

Please recommend some good personal-finance related web sites. I'm looking for sites with good information on all aspects of personal finance and responsible money use. Most of what I've found is focused on investing, though, and on macroeconomics. I'm not interested in the Big Picture. I want sites that focus on the Small Pictures: dealing with debt, saving for the future, finding bargains, etc. Think
Your Money or Your Life, but in web form. Big sites, little sites, weblogs, print magazines — I don't care, so long as it's focused on personal finance.
Bonus points for sites with RSS feeds. [more inside]

Can anyone suggest a book, website, etc. that describes the process of breaking a problem down in order to write a program. I have struggled for far too long trying to figure out how to write a program from scratch only to be stumped by the logic involved.
This question, I think, is outside of a specific language or philosophy (Java, OOP, et al.). It's just something I haven't been able to get my head around.
