Was at Planet Fitness and over the last week they kept playing a new pop song that has a refrain that sounds something like "I believe in my self" or "I be leading myself". It's a guy singing, and it's an upbeat pop song definitely issued very recently. Anyone know this one? I'm going insane trying to find it with no luck. I must have misheard the refrain.
I've been looking through entirely too many links on youtube in an effort to find the Adele (or maybe Amy Winehouse) video that features her standing at a microphone singing in a mostly empty room. From memory, the room is light blue or light green and other than her, there's a fireplace behind her, maybe a chandelier and a piano. I think the video was almost entirely of her standing there singing. Can any Adele fans please help me find that video?
I had this album in the early 90s that featured a woman singing songs about committing recreational suicide, being abducted by UFOs, and Elvis, and I remember really adoring it. But now age and senility have caught up with me, and I have no idea who this woman was. Help? [more inside]

This recent post about picking a sewing machine has inspired me: I followed advice similar to this answer and bought a newly reconditioned sturdy metal Singer 301A a couple of years ago. I acquired a buttonholer and zigzag attachment, as well as a box of other theoretically useful sewing feet (I will be able to sew ruffles just like in Dick and Jane readers!). [more inside]
My wife wants to start sewing and was wanting to get a Brother HC1850 sewing machine. Supposedly it's one of the best computerized sewing machines for $200 and under. I tried to buy one and it's really hard to find right now. I bought one online and almost instantly the seller refunded my money and told me there's a quality issue and Brother has asked sellers to not sell it until that's sorted out. Which other makes and models compare favorably and should be considered instead?
I heard a song this morning as I pulled into my work and didn't hear the end of it as I was running a bit late and figured I could Google it later. Well, that didn't work, so now I'm asking you guys. [more inside]

This retro-future film went viral sometime in 2007 because of how many things it predicted correctly (e-commerce) but also missed (women's lib). But the performance at 19:30 is amazing, and I can't find anything that even mentions it. Not even in the two times it appeared on metafilter. Shazam doesn't correctly identify it. Can you?

After fighting a waxing / waning sinus infection for the past two and half years, I'm starting to accept the fact that I will probably need sinus surgery. Complication: I'm a working singer with a very busy year ahead of me. Can you help me understand the recovery process so I can figure out when to schedule this, if I need it? [more inside]

I was in Paris in April of '96 and kept hearing her song everywhere but never got a chance to pick up the album, which I assume had just been released. It's a solo artist (I'm pretty sure), slow, acoustic guitar, and the video had her sitting in an empty derelict apartment while people peered in through the peephole. I've tried everything I could to find it but gave up until I discovered Mefi. If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear from you. [more inside]
I'm trying to find a singer/song-writer who I heard for the first time 3 years ago. She had a soft, high, very feminine voice, and the lyrics were entirely nonsensical (although grammatically correct), detailed descriptions of bizarre circumstances. This might not be true of all of her songs, but I remember, many times, thinking "god this song is beautiful... /wait/ what's it about?!" [more inside]

NPRfilter: Female singer (from the 50s?) mentioned on NPR in the last week. She was characterized by the music critic as never overdoing vocal tricks, sining minimally and "just the right amount". The singing sample had very little musical backing. She retired early at the height of her popularity after getting sick of the music business. [more inside]

I am trying to find information about a famous singer- not sure of the spelling- Gali Gerci or Galli Gerchi. My m-i- l said she was famous in England (~ mid 1930's) and she recalls her father getting her mother a record of her singing Peer Gynt's "Solveig's Song". Can anyone help- at least w/ the correct spelling?
I am a music ignoramus. But, I know I really like a man and a woman (a guy and a girl) singing together. Call and response, harmony, part of the lyrics or not, I think it's really amazing when a masculine voice and feminine voice are working together. [more inside]

I like singers with strange voices. I don't like novelty songs (e.g. Betty Boop) and I don't like "songs" that are so avant-garde that they're basically noise (e.g. someone screaming into a microphone). So I'm not looking for strange music. I'm looking for traditional (melodic) music sung by singers with non-traditional singing voices. Examples of what I like: Joanna Newsom, Leon Redbone, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Elaine Stritch. [more inside]
