I recently bought a Kindle Fire and want to use Silverlight on it (or some analogue, such as Moonlight). All my google searching indicates that there are a whole host of technical difficulties involved, and there is all sorts of unconfirmed speculation like "Well, maybe if you sideloaded Firefox and then installed Moonlight... that might work... possibly." I don't like messing around with new device software based on random people's hypotheses. Has anybody successfully managed some way to do this which you can
personally confirm worked on your Kindle device?

I can't for the life of me get Netflix to stop skipping every nanosecond on my Macbook. I have tried de-installing Silverlight, re-installing it, updating it, updating my Firefox, trying it on Internet Explorer. Nothing works. I have looked up every article or thread about the issue, and no dice.

What IDEs, editors, or general tools do people use to do web development? I'm a linux geek, so my tool of choice is gVim. But I'm teaching a course on this right now and don't want to inflict my prejudices on the students, and I'd like a broader perspective. So if you're a web developer, what do you use? NetBeans, Notepad? Something in-between?

What are your favourite plugins, IDEs, tools and tricks for client side web development? I'd like to have a "tip of the week" or a "plugin of the week" spot in a course I'm delivering. Main content of the course is HTML5/JavaScript/CSS, with a bit of JQuery and Silverlight.

I'm trying to get my head round the wealth of technologies available for creating "Rich" internet applications - featuring sound, graphics, interaction, animation - specifically from the client side. Flash, ActionScript, Silverlight, Expression, JavaFX, Java, HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery... In particular, I'm looking for the long view, preferably from people working in the field: what skills do you think you will you be looking for in new recruits a few years from now? And why?

I have been laid off and, along with looking for work, I thought I'd learn some new technology and add to my resume. I am now working on a web site for a charity that uses Bing/Silverlight to find meeting locations. One of my former co-workers said "You had better copyright it" which made me wonder if I needed to and if I do, what kind of license do I give the charity?

Are there any keyboard shortcuts for use with silverlight video in Mac OS? In particular, I'd like to speed up the playback of a streaming video that uses silverlight and wonder if there is a keyboard shortcut I could use to do this.
Anyone have any leads on this?

Any resources for quickly developing data-entry heavy applications in JQuery/Javascript? Alternatively, how much quicker is it to get applications running in Flash/Silverlight than Javascript?
