My wife and I are traveling to Washington DC for a work-week vacation. We love musuems and I have many visits planned (Smithsonian, LOC, Air-Space, etc.). What are not-to-miss museums/historical monuments? And most of all - when I'm all "museumed-out" - what are the best night out and local fun stops we should not miss?

Is there much to see out of the window of a Greyhound between Chicago and, say, Pittsburgh? Or will I die of ennui en route?

We are going to NYC for a long weekend beginning next Thursday (April 21) and bringing our almost-four-year-old daughter along. I have a specific question and a couple of general ones for those of you who live in/know/have visited NYC with kids.

What can I do in Minneapolis? I'm going to a conference next week and I 'll have some free time in the evenings. But I won't actually be in Minneapolis. I'll be at the Radisson in Plymouth. Is there anything interesting near the hotel? Can I get downtown without a car?

On Tuesday I'm going to find myself with five or six spare hours as I pass through Los Angeles. I haven't really seen L.A. before, so what should I do? What should I see? Where should I eat?
For what it's worth, my hotel will be near LAX on Highway 1.

Heading to the Raleigh/Durham area for 4th of July weekend to visit my brother. To (hopefully) avoid traffic, we'll be leaving pretty early in the morning, but it's a relatively short drive, and both my brother and my sister-in-law have to work that day, so we'll have a good 6 hours to kill before they get home. Any suggestions for a) a good place to get some lunch once we arrive and b) interesting places to visit, either in Raleigh/Durham or along the way? (I'd ask my brother, but he just moved there himself about 2 months ago.)

Recommendations of what to see/do when visiting Washington D.C.? We're going next week, and have a list of a few touristy spots to visit, but I'd like to see what Mefites recommend. Locals advice also highly appreciated, i.e. dance clubs and restaurants to visit. Finally, all over the web it says you must arrange a White House tour with one of your congressional representatives. We can't do that (group of two), someone said we can join a tour at a kiosk. Anyone agree with this? Please be kind if the question has been posted before, I searched.
