How long after taking meds do side effects take place?

I've been having severe anxiety and panic attacks in the last few months. I am cross tapering from Luvox CR to Viibryd (SSRIs). I took my Luvox this morning and a small 10mg of Viibryd for the first time a couple of hours ago. It's a small dose and I usually don't get side effects but I am wondering if I were to have any, how long after taking it would they show up? [more inside]

Why do I feel so sad, post wisdom tooth extraction?

I had a wisdom tooth extracted yesterday, surgically with IV sedation. I was very very nervous, but it went fine, and today the pain is under easy control from paracetamol. However, I feel not just completely drained (which is, I guess, understandable given how tense I was yesterday and the small physical trauma) but unusually sad. I can't remember the procedure due to the sedation, and I feel weirdly like I'm missing a bit of time that I shouldn't be. I feel ashamed that I was so nervous beforehand. But more than that I just feel so sad about nothing I can put my finger on. I take lofepramine for depression, which is generally pretty well under control. Would any of the drugs I might have been given yesterday counteracted it? Has anyone else experienced this?

scientifically grounded reasons to avoid taking medications?

Idle curiosity filter: I know people who deliberately avoid taking medication for everyday medical problems. Whether it's allergies, the common cold, viral infections etc, I know people who say they prefer not to take medications, because they 'prefer not to put weird/artificial/chemical stuff into their body'. I am not trying to win an argument with them, I'd just like to know if there are scientifically proven reasons for minimising the amount of medication you take for everyday conditions, or avoiding medication altogether. The first 10 days with prozac.

I have just been given a script for Prozac/Fluoxetine 20mg. My doctor gave me a good overview of the process of adjusting to having this in my system. But I am now a little bit apprehensive about starting on them as I have a business trip in 10 days time. On the business trip I will be conducting a training program solo, so I can't really afford to be feeling nauseous, headachy, more anxious etc. These seem to be common initial side-effects. So my question is, should I wait until after the trip to start taking the pills, due to the initial side effects? Or are they over-stated in your experience? [more inside]

Can I stop taking Tamiflu?

I was diagnosed with type-A influenza with a "high possibility" of it being H1N1 on Monday. I have been holed up in my apartment since then, taking the Tamiflu the doctor gave me.
