Okay, that is a bit of a tongue-in-cheek title...
I just started doing tech support work in a public school. I know about hand washing and using sanitizer but anyone have any thoughts about additional vaccinations beyond TDP and the annual flu shot? [more inside]
I moved to San Francisco 7-8 months ago. Ever since then I have found myself getting sick unusually easily. The illnesses I get tend to have the same set of symptoms: heightened temperature/fever, lack of energy, sniffles, sneezing and this kind of warm sick feeling in my body. They tend to be made worse by stress and are often triggered by working hard on things. (Which is really unfortunate because I want to be working a lot harder on my projects than I am right now!) If you've got any wild guess as to what might be going on, please share it! [more inside]
So what's it like to be the recipient of an organ transplant and having to deal with immunosuppressant drugs? How does your life change? How often do you have to take your drugs? What are the weird details of daily life that outsiders don't know about? Are there any insurance hassles? I have a fair idea of what it's like to be diabetic because of coworkers who have this condition but I don't know anything about the life of organ transplant recipients and I'd like to know more. Any help you could provide would be deeply appreciated.

YouAreNotMyDoctorFilter: Last night I was rudely awakened in the very early morning by an intense abdominal pain. I managed to make it to my computer, only to freak myself out about all the possibilities it could be. How serious does this seem, and is it reasonable to just keep a watchful eye on it? Let's hear your method for preventing colds and other sicknesses! [more inside]
I catch colds with alarming frequency- five or six times a year. If I make any sort of contact with somebody else who is sick, I can expect to have what they have within a day or two. I'm 21, HIV negative (recently tested and long abstinent), a vegetarian with a healthy diet, I excercise frequently and I take vitamins. I'm also currently taking Lexapro for depression. My question is twofold: first, what's wrong with me? Doctors insist that I'm fine. Second, what can I do to keep from getting sick so often in the future?
I've had the flu since Wednesday. I haven't left my apartment since Friday. A friend just told me that I won't get better unless I air out my apartment and take a walk outside. Is that true? Can germs live in your bedsheets?
I'd readily go outside, but there's two feet of snow and it's fourteen degrees out.

Cat flu: I'm looking after a cat for a friend, and she recently (yesterday) got a runny nose, and coughs some. She also appears listless and bored. I'm stuck at work and will get her to the vet ASAP, but for now I need some reassurance that this isn't fatal? Thanks!
