What do you consider the most underrated TV show to air during the past year? [more inside]
There was a TV show, early 80s, probably on PBS. Short subject, less than 20 minutes, squeezed in between shows. It was all about Emerging Future Tech! Like microcomputers, art in tech, digital stuff. The host was Laurie Anderson. It has FALLEN off the FACE of the EARTH. [more inside]
Why are new TV shows, such as USA's Mr. Robot and AMC's Fear The Walking Dead, running 65 or 66 minutes? Are we getting more show, more ads, or a little of both? How widespread is this practice and can we expect it to continue? In future syndication, will episodes be cut to fit in one-hour time slots?
Just got Canadian Netflix - loving it. But I need some help choosing what to watch this winter. Must satisfy both me and my guy.... [more inside]
We're flying with our 2.5-year old and would like to find a nature documentary or TV show for her to watch on our iPad. She doesn't watch much TV, so this is a Big Treat that will hopefully distract her for at least some of the flight. The catch: we're not ready to deal with death yet, so I'd like something without predation/disease/starvation/etc. For simplicity's sake, I'd prefer something available on iTunes, but am willing to look other places, as well. We'd also prefer to avoid mass market characters (Elmo, Mickey Mouse, etc.). Any good suggestions?

I've just finished Desperate Housewives, which was the perfect show for lunchtime crocheting. Looking for a replacement which has the same qualities I enjoyed in that show - and bonus points if it's something 80s or 90s that I was too young/British to see first time out! [more inside]

Was this a real TV show or am I imagining things? Circa early-mid 90's, an American show about a family (maybe just a single dad?) with a few sons (ages between 10 - 15?) that owned and lived at a holiday motel complex. The episode I seem to remember is one of the boys was cleaning or going through a guests room after they had stayed and found a porno mag. [more inside]

I watch a lot of non-fiction shows, like Mythbusters and the First 48. Throughout these shows, often things are blurred on purpose. In Mythbusters, they blur brand names. On the First 48, they blur numbers, license plates, faces. I was just curious (A) how much something like that would cost in terms of dollars, (B) how long it would take to do - say an episode, and (C) what computer program they use to do this. Thanks!
