The other Mr fffm is great. Works downtown at a financial firm, snappy dresser, etc. But he takes his lunch to work in a plastic bag from the supermarket and this gives me a sad. Help me find something stylish (but not hideously expensive please) to tote his lunch in. [more inside]

MeFi, I want to flex my muscles! More specifically, I want a T-shirt that looks like a muscular male chest. Cartoon abs would be ideal but photorealistic abs will be okay too. I would like the shirt to be in color, have the printed abs be wide enough to cover my chest so it looks like I have a six pack rather than looking like a picture of abs, and be available in a men's/unisex small. Under $20 including shipping would be ideal too. This is the closest I can find to what I need but is too large, too expensive and I'd honestly prefer cartoony abs. Halp?
I recently got engaged, and am so happy about this! But, I am not the type of girl who always dreamed about what my wedding would be like...basically, I'm more of a casual-type person who is not super into party planning (nor is the hubby-to-be). :) I feel like we need some help in figuring out how to make this wedding happen, but I don't want to get sucked into all the wedding industry stuff...we are not rich, and to the extent we will want to spend money on this, it is probably not on things like ridiculously expensive flower arrangements. So, two questions: [more inside]

Bought a remnant of this fabric at Nancy's Sewing Basket in Seattle, and was told there was no chance of getting more or finding out any information about it (the bolt with the item and vendor numbers had been discarded.) I need more, and AskMefi has found stranger things. Pictures within. [more inside]
What do you now use instead of Craigslist for finding rentals, jobs, activities, etc.? I'm interested in both the paid and free options you've found.
I'm in my 40s, and I would love to have a "goto" place to buy my every day clothes. I have no idea where that place should be. [more inside]
Needing to get a new portable, because the battery in my workhorse laptop is borked, I ordered a refurbished 13" MacBook Pro - which I am typing on at the moment. So far, it seems fine for what I need, but I was wondering whether the hive mind could think of a better solution. Generic snowflake detail inside. [more inside]
My laptop died, and I think I want to get an iPad to replace it for casual stuff. Can you help me make a decision between the iPad Air and the Retina mini? Enumeration of what I want from it are inside. [more inside]

I have a lot of favorite British authors whose books I'd love to purchase used in the hardback, UK versions. I'd also like shipping costs to the US not to be too high. Do you have any suggestions of where to purchase used books in the UK online? I'd prefer to use an independent seller, if possible, and not Amazon. Thank you!
After a year of half-assed solo weight lifting. I've decided to take the green's advice and tie my fitness to a specific activity. I'm thinking of joining a rock climbing/crossfit gym in my area. I've never been a member of a gym before (except during college), and I don't really know what to look out for and pay attention to while checking it out during the free trial. [more inside]
I need a new perfect wallet! Or at least a compromise. I carried an Original All-Ett for years and really liked how slim it was, while still allowing me to carry every card I might possibly need in any situation. Then I got a SlimFold Micro, and appreciated that it made me pare down the number of cards I could carry, and I liked the much smaller footprint that allowed me to carry it in my front pocket. But the Tyvek got really unattractively dirty and creased within a week (especially around the outline of the cards, because there's a lot of extra material that extends past the profile of the stack of cards and gets folded), and more than once I've found myself in a bind because I didn't have a particular card on me. So I need yet another new wallet, but I'm not sure I can go back to the huge footprint of the All-Ett. Any suggestions for a compromise wallet that's not quite so large but still lets me carry ~12 cards, without falling apart?
It's embarrassing to admit to being a 33 year old woman who can't dress herself, but my frustration is outgrowing my embarrassment. I have pretty much nothing in my closet that I like to wear, and that I feel I look good in. I wear nearly the same thing every day: jeans, sneakers/tennis shoes, t-shirt or slightly fancier t-shirt, and one of several ratty hooded sweatshirts, each of which has a hole in the left elbow. I dress like slob. I do not feel this look suits me, and I want to change it, but don't know how. [more inside]

I'd like a thin and light 1080p laptop. It does not need to be powerful, but it does need to be cheap. I'd like to spend about $300, but it must be under $500. The perfect machine would be something like a chromebook, but with a higher res screen than the ones I'm aware of. The resolution requirement trumps the thin and light requirements. [more inside]

Misterben is seeking good-quality warm men's pajamas. LL Bean is excluded since the quality has dropped in recent years. Pants only or a set are OK. Flannel is preferable, although fleece will also be considered. The price should be approximately under $50 USD. Finally, they must not be made in China or from a brand that is known to use sweatshops. He loves US-made brands but we know that is hard to find at this price point.

I've been looking at some toys for the kids for Christmas and this site, http://www.unopenedsavings.com keeps coming up with prices way cheaper then a lot of other online retailers. However, I've never heard of it and the site itself seems a little "scammy". Any thoughts? Thanks

You are an average-sized woman with a disproportionately large chest. You have great bras. You look fabulous in your tops, which magically do not pull, gape, make you look skanky or fit like a giant bag. How did you learn how to dress yourself in a way that flatters you, and where are you shopping for clothes that have a chance of fitting without tailoring? [more inside]
I really like holiday gift guides, which combine the illusion of thoughtful shopping with the ruthless efficiency of the internet. What are the most interesting gift guides from blogs and niche publications? [more inside]
From a previous AskMefi post dated 2006, I've re-discovered Newegg, Slick Deals, Hot Deals, Woot, Tech Bargains, and Spendfish. It's been almost 8 years since the post, though, so I'm sure I'm out of the loop. Google is great for aggregating these sites, but I'm not sure about their quality (i.e. deal-awesomeness) from a simple search. Can you tell me what I'm missing? Thanks in advance!!
I'm looking for this dress, because it screams out to me and encapsulates my personality. My issue is that I have no idea how to find it or something similar....
My apartment doesn't have central heating, and space heaters aren't doing the job. It never gets below freezing here, but does get pretty chilly (maybe 40ish at the lowest) after dark. I have a couple of space heaters, but they don't really heat the full space (two rooms, about 300 sq. feet each), and so I'm left with just sitting right in front of the heater, so there's hot air blowing right on me, which is uncomfortable and dries out my skin like crazy. A friend recommended a radiant or oil heater, but didn't know a lot of specifics. Has anyone used these? Are they better than the type of space heater that just blows out hot air? And, do you have any recommendations for specific brands?

Where can I buy pens in Sydney, and/or who has a wide variety of pens (gel pens, paint pens, that sort of thing)? I am working on my sister's wedding invitations and am rather pressed for time... I need to make some purchases online for Christmas - but I don't want the items to show up on the sidebar. We're a one computer family and my 16 year old daughter will easily figure out what Santa's bringing. I know there's a way to surf and purchase covertly, but when I Google "shop online secretly" and other such phrases, I don't find what I'm looking for.
With just about every activity that I ended up enjoying, I started out by buying cheap-ish gear and then having to purchase everything all over again when I was ready to upgrade. Help me not do that when it comes to a randonee/alpine touring ski setup to be used in the Pacific Northwest backcountry. Complications: I'm a 5'0" woman with mondo size 22 feet, don't weigh a whole lot, and I'm going back to skiing after a decade of snowboarding (lessons start next month and I tend to be a very fast learner). I've my backpack, all clothing and avy gear, but I need skis, bindings, boots, poles, and skins. I'm on a budget and unfortunately nothing is available used in my size, but I'm willing to invest. Help?
Aside from the standard stops ( etsy, eBay, etc ) where should I be looking to find a breadbox-sized, working radio from the 1930s-40s? Ideally Bakelite but not a deal breaker. Ideally shipping from the U.S? A period shell over modern electronics/cords is fine.
I am looking for links to places online (or names of brick-and-mortar shops accessible to the Seattle or Portland area) where I can find a unique and unusual pendant for a man. The price should be in the $75-$150 range. I already have a white gold chain so I am looking for the pendant alone. [more inside]

Where's this black friday online deal: 1. high quality pants (really nice chinos/khaki pants/like Bonobos - i.e. a bit hip/in fancy colors) 2. at around $25-50 3. that ship to Germany? Recommendations for brands that match the style and price are fine (I'd find out about the shipping..).
I would like to purchase a terrycloth robe for a woman, ideally with animal print. Images of animals would be preferable to a leopard or zebra print pattern. Where can I find such an item?
I have a Dell Computer desktop that runs with Windows XP now. It is 11 years old and has been a good one but is running slow so it is time for a replacement. I just need the tower, I have been looking at Dell's website but am willing to try another brand if they are comparable. I do not do any gaming on computer, just internet surfing and some Microsoft Office Word and Excel work. I have Internet through Dish Network Satellite. I have read if you are not into touch screens to get Windows 7 Home Edition. I don't think I want to go with refurbished computer and Amazon seems to be a popular choice for computer shoppers. I have no idea really what to look for, the Dell Inspiron 660 is priced at $529 with 1 TB Hard Drive, 8 GB RAM, 6 M cache/up to 3.3 GHZ Intel Core i5 - 3340 processor. There are other towers with 1 TB Hard Drive and 4 GB RAM - would this be a good choice? Any suggestions appreciated.

Where does one buy clothing for a 6'2, slim, broad-shouldered man that is dapper but not preppy, well-made but not exorbitantly priced? I am looking for a new clothing supplier. The previous company I shopped with have been outed as a bunch of labour-abusing dirtbags and I can't have that. I recently stumbled across this sweater and I'm enamored with it. Unfortunately, it's sold out or $600 everywhere I can find it. Oh great hivemind, can you find me a sweater that ties in the front like this and drapes all gorgeously? I especially love how wide the belt is and how gracefully the sweater flows from the waist.
In the latest season of Project Runway, there was a challenge in which the prize was to have your design produced and sold by Belk. I'd love to purchase Dom's design, and I've been stalking the Belk website since, but there have been no updates, much less actual dresses for sale. Anyone know if/when this is ever going to happen, and if they'll be sold online? (Maybe they're only appearing in physical stores, but seems like they are really missing out on a marketing opportunity if that's the case!)
My wife's favorite hobby for after work is to go onto Ebay and bargain hunt for clothes. She has been doing this for years. She doesn't buy that much, she just enjoys searching. Last week, out of the blue she got an email from Ebay that her 12 year old account was being closed and there was nothing she can do. The reasoning was odd (something about a similar account blah blah) but that is besides the point. Anyway, I am looking alternatives websites she can go to and bargain hunt for clothes online. Etsy.com is the only similar thing I can think about.
