Help me duplicate this unique trophy

I am trying to duplicate a unique trophy any way possible. I recently won this trophy.

I'd like to share it with some other people involved in my success by making as close a copy as possible -- multiple copies, in fact.

I'm asking Mefites for any method they can think of, from creating it myself to hiring a trophy manufacturer. Cheap, reasonable, or expensive; it doesn't matter. I'd like to hear all options.

Thanks.

Recommendations for Marketing/Advertising on a Limited Budget in the UK?

Does anyone know how to effectively (and economically) market a women's shoes and accessories retail store in London, UK? A friend has recently opened a store on South Molton street (just off Bond Street in London). She is selling shoes and bespoke handbags, jewellery and other related items.

Everybody who comes into the store seems to like it and she's doing okayish. People who come in love the store and get stuff but there doesn't seem to be enough traffic to sustain her without advertising.

Unfortunately, she's on a very limited budget (approx 10K) so she needs it to go as far as possible as long as possible. If anybody is in marketing/advertising in the UK I'd love to hear how she could make the most of her money.

If it helps, shes targeting 25-45/women slightly fancier items (shoes + handbags) and a whole range of cheap and affordable everyday items such as earrings and necklaces.

He's the one they Dr. Smellgood

Help me find a replacement cologne! I am extremely picky about cologne. My biggest complaint is that most smell too 'frat boyish' or 'Speed sticky' or 'douchey.'

But once upon a time I found Javari cologne at the Body Shop (Shoppe?). Its spicy, not a hint of pine, kinda citrusy, gingery, woody. I love that stuff. I am on my 3rd bottle. But alas, it is out of production...

Any Javari fans out there find a suitable replacement? I've smelled guys that have cologne on that I would like, but thought it would be weird to ask some random dude what cologne he is wearing.

Camera Recommendations

My digital camera (HP PhotoSmart 945) broke recently and I'm looking for some recommendations for a replacement, and also where to buy in Sydney Australia. I really liked the pictures my HP Photosmart 945 took, despite its age. But yesterday the battery casing refused to close which means I can't take photos with it, and I think its time to replace it.

Things I liked about the HP Photosmart:
- Colour of images (nice rich colours compared to other peoples shots of the same scenes - I know it probably exaggerated the colours, but I like that)
- Long Exposure shots (especially at night time)
- Level of detail in photos

Things I didn't like
- The UI, I found it slow and at times unintuitite
- Sometimes would refuse to take photos
- Always reported incorrect battery levels
- Having to use Up/Down buttons for the zoom rather than twisting a dial for rapid zooming
- The LCD eyepiece was often laggy, low in detail, and the external screen had the same problems and was often impossible to see in daylight.

I'm currently thinking hard about the Pentax K100D Super /Sigma 18-50mm Kit (link to cnet review here) but I'm interested in other peoples recommendations.

I should point out I'm not a pro photographer and more often that not I use the default settings (landscape, portrait, macro) etc though I do like to be able to change them as suits me. I don't want to carry lenses around and have to worry about attaching them etc.

Also, if anyone can recommend some good stores in Sydney, Australia for advice from the staff and also the ability to try them out in the shop that would be great too.

Thanks!

Australian Gift Card

How do I acquire a gift card to an Austrailian home-goods retailer for a friend who is moving there? My friend is getting married and will soon be moving to Australia. Because it is so expensive to ship things there, she doesn't want anything material, but I would really like to give her a gift.

I thought it would be nice to give a gift card to a store in Australia that sells home things (dishes, etc.) that I know they will need, so that they can choose something when they get there.

However, I know nothing about the Australian retail landscape. Please recommend a nice store that would sell a gift card to me, paying from here in the U.S. My budget is between $50 and $100.

Where Can I Sell Body Decoration Items Online?

How can I effectively sell cheap (<20 GBP) accessories and body decoration items online in the UK?
Question for a friend:

She has a number of very cheap (on average 5 GBP) funky body decoration items that she sold from her shop (in addition to other things).

Unfortunately, the shop has closed down but she would like to continue to sell the items online. Her main concerns are:

1. Exposure -- She's looking for the items to be found and noticed easily
2. Ease of use/Lack of expense -- It is certainly beyond her means to start creating merchant accounts, etc.. ideally paypal and the ability to manually track orders would be fine.
3. Expansion -- She would like to be able to put things up and take them down easily as her line of items changes quite rapidly.
4. Location -- UK would be best but European and US sites are acceptable as well.

She has tried ebay but finds that her goods get drowned in the volume of items ebay has available.

Any other recommendations received gratefully.

Recommend an internet print shop?

Recommend an internet print shop that offers the standard business cards and letterhead, but prints on an actual press and not just (gross) digital printing with glossy coatings? Also interested if you know of any internet-based shops offering production effects like embossing. I know some are offering spot gloss varnishes at this point.

Too good to be true?

Should I avoid discount camera websites? I've finally chosen a new digital camera to buy (PLEASE don't try to talk me out of it unless you have something within the same price range, it took me a while to finally pick one as it is!), and I want a Canon G9.

However, my next task is to try to get the best deal online. I've found a few sites that price it well under the list price, so is there anything I should be concerned about? Could any of these sites rip me off? Where would you buy it from?

I am building a building.

Setting up shop filter. We are trying to build ourselves an outbuilding in our yard for our various creative needs. We will be doing some woodworking, painting, papermaking etc. The wood stuff takes up the most room.

We can't decide whether to go very basic right now almost like a shed with no water/power right now (just using drop cords) or do it up fancy like a carriage house. Our zoning allows multi family so we can do that, but cost if of course an issue.

I am looking for examples of really well organized shops as well as personal experience in setting up shop and what you wish you had included and what you never use. How big would you say a perfect workshop should be?Any tips, hints, and advice are greatly appreciated.

What is this line from "Little Shop of Horrors"?

What is this song lyric from "Little Shop of Horrors"? From the movie version of "The Meek Shall Inherit," which was cut from the film but appears on the soundtrack.

I've tried lyrics sites, but they only seem to have the Broadway version; I guess because the song wasn't in the film, it's not considered the official version.

It's at the very end of the song when Seymour has decided to take all the offers. As the ladies sing "You know the meek shall inherit..." he exchanges dialogue with the TV people, the Life magazine lady, and the "lecturing tours" guy, starting with "Where do I sign?"

Right after "It's not a question of merit," the Life magazine lady says...what? It sounds like "Drop that old line," but the word "line" was already used to rhyme with "Where do I sign?" I honestly can't make out the words.

Can anybody help?

How can I make chip shop chips at home? I live in Texas but have made many trips to the U.K. over the years and I always come home missing authentic chippie-style chips. There's no shortage of places around here that sell fish & chips (and I could give a damn about the fish) but none of them serve anything that tastes like the chips I get in the U.K.

If I want them in the U.S. I'm gonna have to make them myself but I have no idea what the secret is. Is it the oil? (I'd prefer not to use lard and I know I've had chips that were more than suitable fried in vegetable oil or peanut oil.) Is it the potato? Do you boil them first? Is it the oil temperature? And what of the salt and vinegar?

Help a brother out.

Members Only!

What are some retail credit card accounts (ie Macy's Card) that deliver good freebies, coupons, discounts or other promos for members? I have an Express Card, and for as much as I will shop there, every time I go I have a pretty good discount coupon in hand. Once a month at least, they send a "$15 off your next purchase" or "$30 off $100" or similar discount to me, as well as coupons for freebies like travel bags, compacts, purses, with next purchase. The retail value of these promos covers the fees on my card's low balance, and though I know that's a soft value, I'd already be shopping there, so it definitely feels win-win for me.

But, I can't just buy sequined tanks ad infinitum. I have to buy housewares and power tools at some point!

So, what are some other retail credit accounts that supply good member perks like this?

Can I integrate an online gallery and online store?

What's the best way to integrate an online photo gallery with an online shop? I am helping my brother-in-law set up a site for his photography. Putting together a site with both a gallery and a shop is no problem, but we'd like to integrate the two, so that when you click on a picture in the gallery, you get a nice lightbox effect with an enlarged image. Below that would be info about the photo with the sizes available and the pricing. One more click and you could add the size print you'd like to your cart. Is there any software out there that does this or are there two that would work together to achieve this?

The core of the site right now is in Wordpress, but I'll try another CMS if it makes achieving this easier.

I want to make stuff and do stuff in the Boston area (accessible by the T) that's not intellectual and academic, and as a welcomed respite during grad school. A friend and I have been thinking about things like shop class (making stuff you can use is incredibly fulfilling!) or stilts walking, or something interesting and fun and active - besides a dance class, sports, or pottery class - that we can do with some regularity (once maybe twice a week). Have you taken any super fun "extra-curricular" classes in the Boston area? What were they? How and where did you take them?

Where to buy computer stuff in UK?

Where to buy PC components in UK (both online and in store)? Have just moved back to the UK and am not really up on where to get computer parts (things like Motherboard etc). The place I'm after has to offer more selection than somewhere like a PC World. Was therefore after 2 things:
1) On-line - something similar to Newegg.com ideally, (they don't shop overseas otherwise I'd probably use them). I've seen Dabs.com and microdirect.co.uk, but can anyone recommend anything else?
2) A computer store in central London (again, PC World etc not going to cut it). Maybe somewhere on Totenham Court Rd?

Any help/advice appreciated!!

Camera and Video in South Bay Area?

Any good video & camera / accessory shops in the South Bay area? More specifically, I'm looking for video & camera shops with lenses and accessories. For example, I have a Canon HD20 camera that I want to enhance with a wide-angle lense. What's the best place?

machine shop in nyc?

Anyone know of a DIY workshop/machine shop in NYC? (Ideally something like a Techshop). I’m graduating from university, and moving to New York. I’m basically looking for something to replace my university’s machine shop for my hobby projects. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just basic stuff like a milling machine, lathe, band saw, sander, etc. Extra points for fancy stuff like a laser cutter, 3D printer, CNC.

Alternatively I could make do with partial solutions, like empty workshop-like space for rent (on an hourly basis), and/or something like a tool library(obviously for hand tools, not milling machines).

I’d like to keep tinkering, without buying machines/tools and working in my apartment.

FixMyBrakesFilter

I need to find a reliable auto repair shop in Tempe/Phoenix AZ for some brake work. My brakes are making icky noises. I've previously done 90% of my car maintenance myself, but that was when I lived near my father and had ready access to a shop full of tools and several decades of accumulated experience. When we couldn't fix it, we'd take it to a small, locally-owned garage who's service people my father trusted.

I'm now 2100 miles away from there and I just want to fix the problem. I'm relatively certain I know what the problem is and how much it should cost (in terms of parts) to fix. However, I have exactly zero experience finding and selecting repair shops. Can I just call one of the national chains, or should I shop around and try to find a good local guy by ear? I can sort of talk the talk, but car work was a small enough part of my interests that I'm not 100% confident I could sort a con man from a legit guy and I've heard lots of horror stories.

If anyone in Tempe/Phoenix has recommendations, that'd be even better. The car is a 1990 Camry, and I suspect the work I'll need will be having the pads changed, one rotor milled or maybe replaced, and one set of calipers thoroughly lubricated.
