I'm nearing the end of police academy for the largest police department in my area. An officer in a suburban department of my area was just murdered on a traffic stop. My fiance doesn't really follow local news and is unaware of the murder. Should I talk with him about it? Or should I continue to let it slide by unremarked unless he hears about it? What about the rest of my immediate family? If you were my family member would you want me to talk about this with you, or would it make you worried? Is it relevant that a LOT of the cops in my department have been in shootings or other critical incidents during their careers? I would honestly estimate that at least half the cops I've talked to have been involved in a shooting, keeping in mind that the cops doing training at the academy all tend to have 10, 15, or more years on. Is it relevant that my fiance has some general problems with anxiety? [more inside]

In the 2005 film The New World, by Terence Malick, there are a few scenes featuring John Smith, post-Jamestown, hanging out with Inuits on a gray rocky shoreline. Any idea where they shot that?

I read an article a couple of years ago, I think it was written by Larry McMurtry, about the myth of the quick draw. Essentially the writer said that no one in their right mind would approach an enemy with their weapon holstered and the quick draw is a myth of Western fiction. I've done some searching of databases and online and I can't find the dang thing. [more inside]

I've been tasked at school to photograph a negative emotion. I had a plan in place which broke to bits when I forgot my camera at school over the weekend. I need to shoot something tomorrow, but I'm having trouble being more creative than some crude and banal ideas for photographs of fear. I can't find inspiration online - all I come up with is crappy stock photography. Can you please point out for me good online and free resources on scene staging in films, resources on photographing emotions or good examples of emotional photos?

How can I improve my in game basketball shooting? I have a pretty good shot when I'm just shooting around, but it drastically falls off in in-game situations. How can I practice in-game shooting when I mostly practice by myself?

Can anyone help me with the title of this film???
It's a 1970s US film where some Airmen are trapped in a bunker by a machine gun firing robot (I think). I thought it starred Richard Baseheart, but i've Googled him and I can't find any film he made that is similar!!!! Can anyone help, please.....(It's driving me mad)

I'm asking for a BB gun
this Winter Holiday, as a way to ease into learning to shoot. Since I'll be shooting on my land, I'm curious about the ecological implications of BBs hanging around. [more inside]

My wife really, really likes the Grand Theft Auto series. She doesn't play the story line or missions, just likes to walk/ride around shooting people, cars, helicopters, etc. She uses cheats constantly. Like I said, it's not about completing or competing, just shooting stuff. What other game could she have a good time in?

Any UK Shooters? Inspired by an earlier question about shooting - I was reminded of a long standing ambition of mine mine, to take up Clay Pigeon (Skeet) shooting.
Does anyone know of a good place to begin Clay Pigeon Shooting - to the West of London preferably - and not exclusive/expensive - I know the West London Shooting Club and Holland & Holland...but both are prohibitively expensive...
